An interesting question.
There is only ONE live animal that can be sent via international first class mail, and that is a queen honeybee. It is customary for apiarists to send queen bees through the mail, with a small piece of honeycomb.

I don't know if it is still the case, but some years ago there was a small trade in queen bees from Kangaroo Island, near South Australia. The island then, because of its isolation, had the only pure-bred Italain bees that hadn't been cross-bred with African bees (the Italian bees are quieter and less aggresive, and in demand).

In the US, First Class mail has a weight limit of 13 oz (368 g), so you could send a kitten or guinea pig, but that's about it.

In the UK, there is no specific weight limit, as long as you are willing to pay for it.

So if you wanted to mail a blue whale (130000 kg), theoretically you could, but it would cost you 38,999,629 pounds postage or 35,879,659 pounds for the franking business discount.

If you have 36 million pounds to spare, I guess you could get your whale from London to Liverpool.
