There are many species of cats that LOVE water. Most domestic cats tend to shy away from it other than hunting along the edge, but check out various species of tigers or heck even the FISHING cat.

Not all cats! My family had a tabby who could not be kept out of the water. He'd come home in the middle of the summer drought with wet fur, we figured he'd just cooled off in some child's wading pool. He was a pest at bath time because he insisted on getting in. We finally trained him to wait til the plug was pulled then it was all his til the water was gone.
My next water lover was a Russian Blue who started out helping me water the garden. I'd hold the hose and he would play with the stream of water so long he'd be dashing back and forth through it til he was wet to the skin. My mother took care of him for me the summer he was a year and he taught her cat to play in the water, too.

I assume your talking about most small cats. Why would not liking water determine why they do or don't like fish. Its instict, when your trying to survive you cant let something as small as like or dislike get in the way of survival or you will die.Simply put its instict.Something most people have never and will never use.

It has to due with the Chinese origins of cats. Many Chinese people love fish, so it became an adaptation of cats over millions of years.

I doubt cats like grass either, but cats sure do like to eat beef or lamb.

it has nothing to do with it. cats like fish because they move around and can be caught and eaten. the only downside is that their paws must get wet.
