Both being Crustaceans under the same order Decapoda have similarities on some structures and characteristics:

>> 10 walking legs or five pairs of appendages on the thorax.
>> protective exoskeleton formed with "chitin" functioning as a rigid shield called "carapace".
>> claws that are used in defense and for capturing and gathering food.
>> segmented body with swimmerets and tails.
>>antenna on the head for sensing.
>>cephalothorax with the head fused with the thorax.
>> molt while growing
>>may experience change in colors.
>>swim backwards to escape from danger.
>>"astaxanthin" on the shells turns the color red when placed in hot water or boiled.
