Whenever I have a shower, even if the windows/door is closed and no matter how hot the water is, I'm freezing! It feels like a cold breeze; does it have to do with hot air hitting cold?

Will a taser work on you if you are wearing rubberboots? I know you can touch an electric fence if you're wearing rubber boots without being shocked.

I know you can test voltage of a battery, but can you test how much of a battery is left?

One of my smoke alarms is "chirping", so I figured the battery is getting weak. However, when I hook it up to a battery tester I get 9.3 volts across the terminals. What is my smoke alarm doing to know this battery is weak?

It's because last night we were asleep and my husband had turned off all the lights but I woke up and I could see three little mirror frames that I have on my wall ..they looked bluish ..and I know that when all the lights are off its really dark and you cant even see them..but I sat up in bed ..half asleep and I kept staring at them..It seemed like they glowed blue.. I didnt think anything bad but Im still concerned,,, I think I was so tired I just fell back to sleep ..then I started having nightmares of that..but I prayed and prayed so I feel better... I was just wondering if maybe energy can be absorbed in the mirror or maybe I was just hallucinating from sleepiness?? Help me!

I do approve of recycling and improving our treatment of the environment and how we live. I think fear of a vengefull 'Earth God' that we have to sacrifice our carbon offsets and 'not anger lest he smite us' is a good incentive for us all to 'straighten up and fly right' literally.
But the solar activity evidence, and the lack of heating of the troposphere, the fact that they used to grow grapes in greenland in the middle ages, make me feel uncertain about the links with manmade global warming.

Should I just go along with it? at least we will get a better planet in the short term out of it, even if we aren't REALLY saving the planet by driving less right?

What is the historical fact behind GMT? I mean, why do we put the clocks forward in spring, and back in the autumn/winter? When did this actually start happening?

Oh, and when do we put the clocks back this year?

Thanks to one and all!!

I heard one about the troposphere not heating up, but the surface is, disproving his main core argument that co2 causes global warming.
Any more? and why does nobody in journalism dispute his statements and he walks away with a Nobel prize?

At night the air smells so much fresher, whether you are in the countryside or in an urban area. For this reason I find it easier to breathe, and jog at night. I can jog for a long time at night, but I'm terrible at jogging during the day.

Why does the air seem fresher at night?

I'm as small as an ant, as big as a whale. I'll approach like a breeeze, but can come like a gale. By some I get hit, but all have shown fear. I'll dance to the music, though I can't hear. Of names I have many, of names I have one. I'm as slow as a snail, but from me you can't run. What am I?

I can understand giving hints. But seriously, you are doing these students a huge disservice by doing the problems for them.

Are you just so helpful as to be blinded to this fact, or are you just so unappreciated that any measure of feeling important is too much to resist?

Give hints, not answers.

People laugh at me when I tell them that within 25 years we will find the secret to immortality because of great advances in science and medicine. I know that to a lot of people it sounds crazy. I'm a tech buff and I;m always looking stuff up online. I just think that in the next 25 years or so we will have so many great things. Like cars that drive themselves, affordable space tourism, organs that can be manufactured in a lab and be ready for implant within a couple of hours, nanobots that repair damaged tissues and keep us young forever, the end of extreme poverty and hunger just to name a few. I predict that by 2020 life expectancy will increase by more than a year each year and it's all exponential from then on. Computation power doubles every year and we will reach the singularity soon. Many people laugh because they don't really understand, but all these great advances are coming a lot sooner than most people expect it! When all this is finally in place we will have peace.

This question came to mind as I was studying for an exam, and I looked at Occam's razor for what seemed like the hundredth time.

I've been told of entropy and Occam's razor numerous times, but no one's ever explained both of them in the same thought. At first glance, they seem to be in conflict with one another. What are your thoughts on it?

I was assigned a science project just last week. I have to get 2 of the same plants and water one with salt water and the other with fresh water. I need a hypothesis. I think that the plant without salt will grow taller. My brother told me that is true, because the salt displaces the water. But i need to know if this info is correct, and what i should put in my hypothesis. I am really, really stuck!

If you have any other ideas, please tell me what you think my hypothesis should be!!!!

In my science class we are doing a panel discussion on evolution in a week. I have been assigned to the pro-evolution side (even though I am con-evolution), and I need strong arguments that are pro-evolution. I have already checked out the book that has all of Charles Darwin's essays, etc. in it. What I need are strong, reliable, logical sites with pro-evolution facts on it. All information is appreciated, but please do not give your own opinions or information, I need something from a very reliable source. All answers are appreciated, but PLEASE do not bombard me with answers like "what do you mean your con-evolution", "You're completely ignoring the facts" and "Do your own homework, kid", etc. I am doing my own homework, I just might need some extra help and somewhere to start.

Thank you!

In simple terms, could someone explain this to me? Thanks! :) I think it has something to do with longer sound waves the further away you are - it takes longer for them to hit your ear, so the lose energy, so they are softer? So when you ring a bell and are 50 feet away the sound is softer?

Thanks!
