I am trying to research the color spectrum as it relates to bubbles and I keep finding references to white light, but no sources for it. I tried to research it on the Internet, but all I get is page after page of stuff about artifical light sources.

Thanks!

in consideration of the fact that the scientific "truths" of any era have often been discarded or revised in light of later advances, would you agree that a degree of caution and patience is advisable in accepting scientific "facts" as truth?

Hi! I am a sophomore in high school, and this year I plan to do my science fair project on piezoelectric. I am in honors chemistry, and I want to create piezoelectric crystals, and measure the amount of energy given when pressure is applied. I want to use different types of crystals that I can preferably create myself. Then, I would like to possibly light a small LED.

I know that I can make one type of crystal by using Rochelle salt. Does anyone know of any others, preferably ones that can be made at home?

Also, what is the type of meter I need to get to measure the very small amount of charge that is given off by the crystals. Can I pick one up at my local hardware store, and how much will I have to cough up? The same goes for what ingredients I need for my crystals?

Thanks a lot in advance. I look forward to reading your answers. Please feel free to e-mail me if you need more information, or if I am not coherent enough. Once again, thanks!

So, what is one scientific claim you have encountered today?

One that I can remeber from the top of my head is "Prefer ON". Its like the "Head On" stick for headaches but for scars claiming to "fade any scar".

So what ways are there that could mean we can live forever?

With technology at the level it is and since its increasing all the time the question about whether or not we can live forever is asked alot and will be asked even more as we advance(i believe).

So what are scientists working on now that could allow immortality or even tens or hundreds of thousands of years of life?

Its all i want to know, i dont care about the ethics of it or how life will be boring or how all friends and family will die etc none of it phases me and i just would like an answer.

For my science fair project (im in 10th grade) I would like to see whether or not horses see in color and which colors they prefer by spraypainting sections of grass certain colors, putting the grass 15 feet away from them and each one a few feet apart, and seeing which grass the horse goes to. I would obviously not let the horse eat it since that would be unhealthy, but i would stop the horse a few feet away just to see which one it goes to. Would this be a good experiment to test horses' vision, and if not what errors does it have? Any other ideas? also is this age appropriate (I'm in 10th grade).
thanks!
