Will a taser work on you if you are wearing rubberboots? I know you can touch an electric fence if you're wearing rubber boots without being shocked.

A taser has both the live and the ground electrodes in contact with the intended "victim", there is no need for the electricity to flow through the ground to complete the circuit, so yes, it would work.
If they could have been defeated as easily as with wearing rubber boots, teasers would have been fixed a long time ago, don't you think?

As the others have said it will not mater if you're wearing rubber boots or not. The fact is that electrical current will travel the path of least resistant. There-fore your body will become that path between the two electrodes. Now if one electrode was implanted in the ground then the boots would isolate you from the path that current would like to take . One suggestion don't try it at all.

Only if the taser hits the boots and doesn't penetrate. The taser implants a pair of electrodes to form a complete circuit, and doesn't depend on ground conduction. Your best protection:
(1) wear Kevlar. It might be enough to keep the electrodes from penetrating your skin. But it might not, since they are sharp.
(2) wear copper chain-mail so most of the current flows through it instead of you.
(3) don't commit crimes.

"Yes. The potential is between the two leads that get stuck into your body, not between the leads and the ground." This makes sense. Think about it. Most shoes have rubber soles which would work the same way as rubber boots...

Yes. The potential is between the two leads that get stuck into your body, not between the leads and the ground.

Edit:
Try a kevlar vest instead.
