I know they can be used to detect diabetes etc, but exactly how are they used and how do they work? The idea of musical tones affecting the human system is utterly fascinating.

I am curious. For those of you who are doctors, how do you feel about answering specific, patient-related questions on the internet? Does this constitute a doctor-patient relationship? Could saying, "You could have X disease," be interpreted as diagnosing someone? Could saying, "You should try X treatment," be interpreted as giving medical advice? Would it make a difference if you were paid to answer questions?

Of course, I believe that this is a great forum for sharing knowledge and helping people, and I would hate to discourage people from doing so, but I do wonder if you feel that it is improper in any way.

And once it becomes available to the public, is it ethical to use it to alter genes in your future children, etc. ?
What uses are ethical and what uses are unethical?

Hey, if you teach a worm to say, jump through a hoop, then chop it up and feed it to another worm whose never been trained, the worms who eat the body will develop that skill instantly.

My grandmother is 78 years old, is diabetic and hypertensive. 3 1/2 weeks ago she had a colonoscopy and in the process they perforated her colon. In the time that it took to perform the emergency surgery to close her colon her stool was leaking into her abdominal cavity and organs, etc. From this her body went into a state of shock where her lungs collapsed, she had kidney failure and had to be resuscitated. She has been in the hospital for 3 weeks and counting. She has been entubated two times and was on dialysis but that stopped about a week ago. She is now also beginning to grow some type of fungus on the lower part of the incision they made to perform the post operation and on on her vaginal area, I’m assuming this is from the areas not being exposed and are always moist. My family is considering a mal practive lawsuit but I wanted to know whether or not this is even and option.

Thank you in advance!

I take 800 mg Ibuprofen for cramps. I was going to take it while I was on the phone but I got caught up in the conversation and now I can't remember if I took one. Stupid, I know. lol But my question is, if I already took one, would it hurt me to take another one? I don't think I took it already but don't want to take any chances on dying or something. lol Thanks!

Yes, I know lots of folks say that it works on pain; but here's my take: I work for an acupunturist and have found that he doesn't use needles as much as acupressure. This has led me to believe the acupressure (a kind of massage) is actually what's helping his patients rather than needles. Basically, he knows that and only uses the needles if a patient requests it.

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine was pioneered by a Chicago Allergist-board certified, more than 50 years ago.He has written several books re the impact of our environment-both food and air on human health. His name is Theron Randolph M.D. His research has been basically ignored by the mainstream medical establishment in favor of drugs. Why bother over what causes the disease--just try to squash symptoms-and forget about side-effects.In Canada-a doctor-Abram Hoffer PhD-M.D.also did groundbreaking research on schizophrenia with a simple vitanin-Niacin-as a preventative and even a cure for early onset M.I..As with Dr. Randolph-mainstream Medicine ignores his findings.
One famous person-an actress-Margot Kidder was cured of her Bipolar with Orthomolecular Medicine.
It is a shame that our culture based on greed propagates misleading information to benefit drug companies.Dr. Andrew Weil who also was a pioneer of Integrative Medicine ia also a true American hero........v152

For reconstructive surgery, doctors will sometimes remove the fibula (the slender bone in the lower leg) to use the bone. Apparently, this bone isn't really needed as the Tibia can do the job alone in the lower leg. Could they remove one of the bones in the lower arm (ulna or radius) in the same way or would this have a detrimental effect and, if so, why? Why does removing the fibula not cause problems?
