One serving of canned beets contains 1 gram of protein and 6 grams of carbohydrates. One serving of canned red beans contains 6 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbohydrates. How many servings of each would it take to get exactly 21 grams of protein and 78 grams of carbohydrates?

beets = t

beans = n

1t + 6n = 21 t = 21 – 6n

6t + 20n = 78 6(21-6n) + 20n = 78

126 – 36n + 20n = 78

48 = 16n

n = 3

t = 21 – 6(3) = 3 3 beets and 3 beans

The number P is unique for each person and is defined as the amount of time you have thought about the number P. If you never heard of this before, until now your number P was 0. But because you read this, your number P is now positive and of course will never get smaller. Now you have another thing to complicate your life.
