Wikipedia gave me this absolute gem, which is utterly inapplicable to life as we know it:

"Square wheels can roll perfectly smoothly if the road has evenly spaced bumps in the shape of a series of inverted catenary curves. The wheels can be any regular polygon, but one must use the correct catenary, corresponding correctly to the shape and dimensions of the wheels."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catenary

So: Either come up with an even more useless piece of geometric trivia
OR:
tell me something profound about the concept of a world with catenarymobiles (like if your steering direction is even slightly off, you get out of phase, and nasty things happen. Maybe an automatic navigation system for a catenarymobile would use the increasing noise to correct steering...? Although it would be easy to design a handbrake into the road. Tire design might be problematic though.)

the original problem deals w/ finding the derivative of
F(x)= 4X^(1/6) -3x^(-1/6) +3

ok, no problems so far...i go in, apply the power rule, and get

4/6 X^(-5/6) + 3/6 X^(-7/6)

the thing is, im having trouble combining them, in my answers i get numerators in the top, like 3+4 (all numbers), however all the "correct" answer choices have "X" in the top AND in the bottom.

any help?

-confused-

Solve this inequality. Express the solution in set-builder notation: 7(x - 2) + 16 < 3(2 + 3x). Graph your solution on the number line. Be sure to do your solution check.

This is easy, yet most ppl dont get it......

A rich merchant had collected many rare gold coins. He did not want anybody to know about them. One day, one of his servants asked, "How many gold coins do you have, sir?"

He replied, "If I divide the coins into two unequal numbers, then 29 times the difference between the two numbers equals the difference between the squares of the two numbers."

How many does he have (this is too easy)
