A butcher has to slaught 20 cows in 05 days, but he has to cut the cows daily in odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9 etc.).
Give me the sequence of cows cut DAILY.

Remember its a challenge specially for Mathgirl.

It's pretty simple to show that an odd number of odd numbers sums to an odd number so, on the face of it, your problem (as stated) has no answer.

And neither Mathgirl, nor myself, nor any other mathematician would waste a lot of time looking for whatever 'trick' is in the wording. That makes it an English test. Maybe he cuts one cow at night and that doesn't count as one cut DAILY? Or are you starting the count from day 0?

There is no answer for this question. Because total of 5 odd numbers would be an odd number and it can't be 20. Therefore, its impossible that the butcher slaught 20 cows in 5 days if he cut the cows daily in odd numbers.

I'd say slaughter 1 cow of the first day, then 3, then 7, then 9, and the last day slaughter 0. That number 0 is quite an odd number.

This is impossible, and here is why: add any two odd numbers and you get an even number. Add any two even numbers and you get an even number. Add an odd and an even and you get an odd.

Odd+odd = even, odd+odd = even

Two evens + one odd = odd.

Therefore, 20 is impossible.
