I have an application involving integrating accelerometer readings to obtain position. The application is essentially a mass/spring/friction problem, but with places where the mass is halted _very suddenly_. The spring force must then build up enough for the mass to break free from where it is stuck. Movement is away from the center of the Earth, so when the mass breaks free it can move upward quickly, overshooting the endpoint of the spring, and then fall back (it doesn't just oscillate, it actually travels over the same interval more than once)

Also:
1) I can process the data at a later time instead of in real time, so I can "looking into the future" data-wise
2) I have an independent measure of average velocity
3) I know my end position as well as starting position
4) There are points where it is very clear that no motion is taking place (velocity = 0) .

For this problem is a Kalman filter the best choice?
Should I restart integration at the zero velocity points?

I'm working at Ball Corp. right doing my 3rd co-op semester with them. I'm planning on doing a 4th next summer and ill be graduating in December 2008. They pay extremely well here and the engineering jobs offer a ton of diversity. I'm in mechanical engineering by the way.

Do i have a good chance at being hired by this company when i graduate since i co-oped here?

I am very creative but not the best artist out there. I am also interested in Green Eco-Frinedly Design and would love to get into that field. How realistic is it to go from a totally different field and enter architecture. How about schooling? Thank you for your time.

If a bi-directional amplifier is used for a multi carrier trunked radio radio network is at 10watts which equal to +40dBm.
If each carrier is set at +20dBm at the output port of the amplifier, then what is the maximum number of carriers can be work together at +20dBm level at the same time by the BDA and not to degrading the signal output of each carrier at +20dBM.

As a kid, I loved breaking into old pieces of technology like radios and alarm clocks, just to see how they work. These days, the only innards I ever get to play with are the insides of computers.

But right now, I'm dissembling a LCD screen and was warned that there are cold cathode tubes with mercury vapor inside of it, and breaking it could cause the mercury vapors to leak. That's dangerous!

Is it safe to continue my hobby of messing around with the insides of technology? Or should I just leave that stuff alone, and leave it to the professionals?
