Two ways.
1. Constantly accelerate something. So if a spaceship is accelerating at 9.8m/s^2, the floor of the ship would push against you just like you are pushing against the Earth.
2. Spin the spaceship around, where you are standing on the inside edge. You would be pushed directly away from the center of the space ship, just like you were standing on Earth. The nice part about this method is that once you get a ship spinning, it will continue to spin without applying a constant force.

Scientist haven't even been able to actually figure why gravity works or even what it actually is. There is no device that makes artificial gravity. Artificial gravity is the stuff of science fiction only. Only by spinning in something like a centrifuge and thereby substituting inertia for gravity can even a facsimile of gravity be made as in a spinning space stations, which also does not exist.

Unless you've got Velcro shoes or are living in a spinning spacecraft, there ain't no such thing as artificial gravity. There are a lot of things we know how to make, but gravity isn't one of them.
Now, you _can_ get into an elevator and accelerate it in the upward direction, and that'll make you heavier. It's the same thing as being in a centrifuge, as mentioned by another answerer. The pull of gravity and the pull due to an accelerating frame of reference are indistinguishable.

Constant acceleration is one way to mimic gravity. But the most popular method is to film space movies on earth where there is natural gravity and then use various special effects when the absence of gravity needs to be shown.
