As a kid, I loved breaking into old pieces of technology like radios and alarm clocks, just to see how they work. These days, the only innards I ever get to play with are the insides of computers.
But right now, I'm dissembling a LCD screen and was warned that there are cold cathode tubes with mercury vapor inside of it, and breaking it could cause the mercury vapors to leak. That's dangerous!
Is it safe to continue my hobby of messing around with the insides of technology? Or should I just leave that stuff alone, and leave it to the professionals?
