Is it just the hazy sky where I am (Wisconsin), or is this shower shaping up to be...well, less than a shower? If we were talking weather I don't think I would have needed an umbrella. I was out for about half an hour, 3am to 3:30am Central time, and I don't think I saw ten Perseids. Heck, I think I only saw about 3 Perseids for every random meteor (3 or so of those). I'd heard estimates of 1-2 meteors per minute. Anybody else see a better show than I did?

Alright, so I was watching the meteor shower all night and I saw a good amount of normal meteors, the ones that just look like shooting stars. Although, there were 3 different times when I saw something that I have never seen before. I KNOW that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me. It looked like a flock of geese flying -almost floating- in the shape of a V like geese usually fly. I followed these floating "geese" a lot farther than the normal meteors, and also, they seemed closer. Does anybody have an explanation for what I saw, besides 1) They were geese, or 2) I'm nuts...?

I thought you'd see meteors appear to come out equally from all sides of a pt. of origin but I read that they will mostly go down from Perseus' head. Is this true? & why?

I'd really like to see the Perseid meteor shower. I read on yahoo today that it is supposed to be most visible tonight. Let me just say that I don't know anything about this kind of stuff
I have two questions.
First, is there any possible way that I could see it... I live in Philadelphia (a city).
Second, if you think that there is any way for me to see it (even with the city lights), which direction should I look? Or does that even matter?

Thanks in advance :]

I spend another all-nighter, tonight standing outside waiting to see a Celestial showing, but to no avail. :-( All I DID see was (maybe?) one "flash" - I bet it was only a distant star giving up it's final show.
Why is this year's Persied Meteorshower such a tell-all in the media? - Why hasn't it garnered as much mention-attention since this year?
I did spot Mars in the distance from this shower, but that planet is too far in it's orbit to even consider mentioning.
When will be the next possible Galaxy-glory-"thing" to show up nearby Earth to garner more media attention? - How often does our "Sister-planet" (Mars) visit this neighborhood?
