I have always been fascinated by ancient cultures' written depictions of 'flying beings' and physical descriptions that are incompatible with modern humans. Particularly interesting are the references in ancient Hindu texts to 'flying machines' containing mercury - given that mercury is theorized to be part of a future anti-gravity engine. Since it's unlikely that the people themselves had these machines, the only explanation is someone or something else?

It is true that a astroid the size rhode island is headed for earth. While NASA and others have ideas no one really knows what to do, or has suggested any plans. It is headed to hit on April 13 2036. It will destroy all life. The sun will be blocked and we will go into an ice age.

Gas giant planets are balls of gas. They may have a rocky core but you cant just land on it. These planets may LOOK solid but if someone has any common sense they will realize that "gas giant" is not meant to sound solid.

Canopus, a bright star in our sky, has an apparent magnitude of -0.62. The star is located 96pc from Earth.

Would the absolute magnitude of Canopus be greater or less than the apparent magnitude? Please Explain.

Now, I know that the lower the magnitude the closer it is to Earth. So, if you use the equation m-M=5log(d)-5 would that mean that the absolute magnitude of Canopus would be greater than the apparent magnitude? I'm so lost...please help!
