Why people thought that the earth was squared? if ancient civilizations like Egyptians, Mayans, Aztecs and others knew a tremendous amount of information about the the composition of the universe that even in our era will be hard to investigate, they knew about planets, stars even asteroids and black holes... so if they knew it thousands of years ago, why the medieval civilizations thought that their own planet was rectangular/squared ?

Some guy ( I can't recall who ) wants to build a massive telescope kind of thing, in some gigantic crater or something. It's supposed to be able to see into the atmospheres, etc of distant planets... has anyone heard of this? And is this even possible from an engineering point of view?

Also do you know the name of the guy who wanted to do this?

Im a scientist myself and I profess Astrology but I'm not one of those Einsteinians and Darwinists.

It was all Christianity and Creationism in Science until a jew and atheist named Einstein and Darwin came along and destroyed our research papers to take revenge for World War against American Christians.

They lied about gravity, they lied about subatomic theorries and they lied about evolution.

Einstien was nothing more than a jew sent by satan to take this country away from God and Holy Bible.

Since those scientists follow his theories they are evil and they will be judged soon.

World is coming to end pretty soon.

What star constillations can be seen From the NEW YORK CITY region( Long Island, Queens, Westchester)?? Despite light pollution many stars are still visible around the NYC suburbs. I'm becoming quite fond of stars and constillations however living in Mineola Long Island ( about 15-20 miles away from new york city) i cant see the stars as clear as many other places in the U.S. How would i know where to begin or what to look at when studying stars in my location. The only form of constillation i can kind of see are the three stars that make the handle for the big dipper. I might not even be to sure about that as well. Can any body please help me identify stars around my region?

We're part of it, and it's so mind-numbingly huge (as if that wasn't enough, it's ever-expanding),we might be led to think "what are we doing here/ why are we here?".These questions aren't new, but if you read/watch some documentary about the universe, you'll feel totally desperate to know what's the point of all this. I also have some questions of my own. What's the shape of the universe? if it's expanding, and i believe it to be expanding in EVERY direction so, would that make it a sphere? or just no shape? 'Cause if it hasn't stopped expanding, how can it have a definite shape? I know, it's hard to answer, but if you really think about it for too long, it just drives you nuts. And I do believe that there is life beyond our solar system, seriously, how could there not be?! It's just a question of LOGIC! But, what's the point of all this? Don't you wish to know the truth? I like to think that after dying, all this mistery is revealed to us, in the afterlife or smth, like a revelation.

Apparently the asteriod 99942 Apophis will come very close to the Earth on Friday 13th April 2029. If they have got their calculations correct it is supposed to miss us.

If they find out that they haven't, do you think anyone will bother to try and stop a catastrophic impact, or do you think they will leave it because its too expensive?
