and Johannes Kepler. Begin by explaining why Tycho rejected the Copernican system. Pick up the story with Kepler emphasizing his connection with Tycho, and how he improved upon the Copernican model. You should address the following questions: What different assumptions did Kepler make? What did he have to work with that Copernicus did not? How did that help?

Do you think there is life out there that, through technology beyond our comprehension, is aware of the existence of humans on the planet Earth?

When you really think about it, is it that crazy an idea?

There are, of course, zillions of prophecies and silly ideas about the year 2012.

But is there any scientific basis to the idea of a 'polar shift' or something to do with the Earth's magnetic field?

Thanks!

This question is for a "rocket scientist". I've seen drawings of the asteroid belt that look like a dense ring around the solar system, but I suspect those are exaggerations. Are there any real photos of the asteroid belt? There should be since the Voyagers and other craft have passed throgh them.

I know that I am not the first to ask this question. Many, many have asked it before.

By the calculations of many prominent astronomers (like Drake) there could be billions and billions of intelligent civilizations out there in space. Many of them could be millions of years ahead of us. They might have developed radio technology MILLIONS of years ago.

So one would think that there would be endless communications, messages, pulses, and images floating around out there. There would have been things traveling through the cosmos from far, far away and we should be picking them up.

Why aren't we?

We have heard nothing, this far.

Why is this?

Could it be that we are alone? Or that it just happens that all the other civilizations out there are 'pre-radio'?

I just don't get it.

And while this question has been asked before, I have just never heard a really good answer to it.

What are your thoughts about this?

Thank you.

The answer has gotten confusing now. Back when I was in third grade I learned it as Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Several years later, we were taught that there was a new planet called "Vedna" or something like that.

I've been tuned out of the whole planet thing, but know Pluto is no longer a planet. I look online and it lists the planets as they were back in the day with the original 9. Is Vedna (sp?) a planet or did they demote it to a planetoid? And can anyone confirm that Pluto is definitely not a planet?

I want educated answers please.
