Do you believe that its likely that there are advanced civilizations in the universe that are aware of us?

Do you think there is life out there that, through technology beyond our comprehension, is aware of the existence of humans on the planet Earth?

When you really think about it, is it that crazy an idea?

its not a crazy idea, just improbable because of the VAST amount of space out there.

I'm willing to bet THERE ARE MILLIONS of civilzations more advanced than us out there....... they just haven't made it here yet......

and if they knew we where here, WHY NOT try to talk to us?
we're not a threat to a civilization that is MORE ADVANCED than us. They would MORE LIKELY be a threat to us, which gives us more reason to respect them when we meet them.


the odds of life look good according to the evidence of the amounts of stars with planets circling around them. Not to mention the fact there are TRILLIONS of other galaxies with BILLIONS of stars inside them.

but the odds of reaching them look slim due to distance.

Ooo, I love thinking about this too. I believe there are two ways to look at this one way is too think that of course we aren't alone space is endless, there has to be some life out there! On the other hand, if there was highly advanced life, you'd think they would have found us by now, but who knows? It would be really cool if there was another planet out there that wasn't hostile and we could meet them or something, maybe we could learn from their mistakes! What if there was a planet of aliens that were exactly like us, but were just like 5 minutes ahead of us technology wise! lol

Oh and too comment on October's reply, radio waves aren't able to travel lightyears into space.

Well from what we know about life on our planet they would have to be around for at least 4.5 billion years. So yeah it is possible, look at us. My theory is that the longer you stay around in space they greater your chances are to become extinct. Since the oldest planet found to date is around 12 billion years old, one can assume that advance civilaztions have come and gone within the universe. And as time passes on, those older civilizations are going to be out of our reach for contacting them. In fact some are probably out of our range of contact already and we will never know about them. The only way advanced civilizations would know about us would be to have some form of technology that could bend space/time. Universe is far to vast to travel or receive any type of signal with hopes of finding advance life with anything less than that. I do believe that their are advanced civilizations out there in the universe but do they know about us. Probably not. With the billions of planets, stars, and moons out there why would they look in our direction. If they are looking, they are probably looking for life as they know it, which may or may not be life as we know it. So you could have a situation we all these civilizations are looking for the same thing but are coming up short because they dont recognize life as they know it. Or they do know about us but think of our species as pond scum and keep on going. Only to return once we evolved from our primitive state

No. I think there probably (but not definitely) advanced civilizations out there but I doubt they are aware of us, just as we are not aware of them.

i doubt they are aware of us. the only real way is if they have received out radio signals, and if they have then we would have received theirs, which we havent.
