Apparently the asteriod 99942 Apophis will come very close to the Earth on Friday 13th April 2029. If they have got their calculations correct it is supposed to miss us.

If they find out that they haven't, do you think anyone will bother to try and stop a catastrophic impact, or do you think they will leave it because its too expensive?

Things will wrap-up long before then.

I'm sure that stopping the asteroid from making impact would be a little difficult, but probably at least attempted. But where will the world be in 2029 that is the thing. Everyone is so corrupt now a days, that wars are starting all over and who knows what the world will look like then. And how do they have this exact date planned out.. another asteroid could be coming from another direction and knock it completely in another direction!

If I am shooting at a tree, but am aiming to miss it by 100 feet, but I do the calculations wrong, I am still likely to miss the tree. Similarly, if scientists are wrong with their calculations, the asteroid is still likely to miss us. The chances of being hit by an asteroid are very, very small.
The only people who are doomed are the ones who believe these end-of-world predictions.

If you're right about this asteroid and this date, and they realize that it's actually going to collide with the Earth, then you can bet that no expense will be spared. What good is a bazillion doallars to the fatcats if they're not around to use it to wring more money from the rabble?

It will miss us.
But it is going to come real close. I'll have the telescope and camera out to record this close encounter.

LOL, the Chinese are practicing on satellites now for something like this.

The calculations are extremely accurate and reliable. You shouldn't go around trying to scare people with false information!

Here is the NASA article on this space ROCK. Looks like it will not hit us------- however with more telescope data over the next 6-8 years they can be more precise about its orbit.

If they find it will really hit after all, or find another previously unknown asteroid on a collision course, some projects will be started.

You should try to bear in mind that "they" are very , very good at doing those calculations. I'm not worried about this one.

Everyone should move to the correct side of the earth, look up, and blow real hard.
