How do we know the distance and size of the sun for instance? I assume it's not geometry as you must be given the distance to get the size?

Also what about other stars, nebula or galaxies? How do we know their size and distance? How do we know that they're not bigger and further away, or smaller and closer to us?

1. a very massive cloud with any density and a lot of angular momentum
2.a low-density cloud with quite a bit of angular momentum
3.a dense cloud with very little angular momentum
4.a dense cloud with quite a bit of angular momentum
5.a very low-density cloud with very little angular momentum
Right now Im thinking number 1 because it is my belief that to form an elliptic galazy you need high amounts of angular momentum, Im open to other opinions and selecytions!

If a black hole (mass = M(Sun)) approaches us,
how close it could get before astronomers notice?

I am not sure about velocity, but say it has typical
velocity of nearest local stars.

What do you think will happen in a realistic and in a potentially best future of mankind concerning Mars.
Could it be transformed into a giant spaceship? Should we experiment by introducing life conditions on it, before the Sun burns it? Would it be a bridge toward Europe?

Because the stupid scientist people are all saying that its too small, just and insignifigant piece of rock. but thats what all the planets are. except earth, cuz we live on it. But pluto lives on!!!

If the answer is ' due to refraction in the air of the earth's atmosphere', please state in which direction the rays from the opposite points of the sun's disc bend and why? Please take note that the disc appears perfectly circular.

I've been told that the polar caps of Mars are made out of dry ice. That's frozen carbon dioxide.
Well, what kind of ice is that, does it contain water?
Is dry ice of any importance for the hold of life?
What if it's melted somewhere...would it be possible that there are some kind of little lakes in mars, from the melting of this ice?

my original question, so I 'll ask it again.
With X-ray telescopes, how far inside objects do the X-rays penetrate. How powerful would the X-rays have to be to look at ,say a planets core. What do we "see", when we are shown photographs of the sun as seen through an X-ray telescope. How far "in" is that?

I think a lot of us are getting tried of this faked moon landing theory. It seems to me that faking Christ's resurrection would have been a lot easier. Now there's a conspiracy theory that should put a lot of folks in a panic.
