I know we have several meteors on their way, the Andromeda Galaxy is headed for us, and the Sun is headed for a Supernova, but is there something about to happen, super big, that I can look forward to and actually witness. Thanks.

Again campell's info is wrong ..he said .. "So there is nothing super big about to happen"

There is a major solar storm coming our way , in fact warnings are now posted at every observatory incuding mine . We are tracking this supersized solar storm and you can check out
all the latest at ..

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=&q=solar+storm

to find out the very latest email my service at asktheastronomer@gmail.com

http://www.solarmonitor.org/index.php

has the latest , in fact you can see it starting to flare in their data photos.

if interested i have alot of other sites too in our observatory's massive database i can give you .

Also there is a supernova happening in Scorpio , I can give you the latest on that as well.

also ...A Big Chunk of Rock Passes Near Earth

A mile-wide chunk of rock dubbed 2006 VV2 is now whizzing past Earth. At its closest approach, around 11 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on March 30th, it will be just 2,100,000 miles (3,900,000 kilometers) over the heads of observers in Southern California.

want more on that? email me for more info.

The Sun cannot ever become a supernova, if current theories about supernovae are correct.

Meteors come all the time, that is no big deal. Asteroids pass close to Earth all the time, but we are only recently able to find them, by use of a world wide network of computer controlled telescopes constantly and automatically scanning the entire sky for them.

The Andromeda galaxy will take billions of years to get here, so that is not an event that will happen soon.

So there is nothing super big about to happen. There are all sorts of things that happen all the time, like comets being discovered, planets forming various alignments or groupings, and so on, but they are not super big.

It depends on your definition of soon. As you know, when you are talking about celestial events, "soon" could mean 1,000 years from now or 1 million years from now.

On that note, about a dozen stars in OUR galaxy could supernova within a few hundred years, including Betelgeuse, IK Pegasi, and Antares.

Depending on the star, it would be extremely bright (and might be visible during the day) for several months.

Because of this happens in our galaxy relatively rarely, there is a Super Nova Early Warning System in place so that astronomers will know as soon as it begins.

The last supernova observed in our galaxy was in 1604 AD (SN 1604 Kepler's Supernova).

A supernova in our galaxy would not be dangerous to earthlings unless it's within a few hundred light years, and none of the known candidates are that close.

Apophis may crash toward earth 29 years later. Sun will reverse within this 10 years and there will be no sun for 1 month.
