I think a lot of us are getting tried of this faked moon landing theory. It seems to me that faking Christ's resurrection would have been a lot easier. Now there's a conspiracy theory that should put a lot of folks in a panic.

I put this question in the astronomy section because it is a response to the moon landing conspiracy fans. Personally, I don't think faked moon landing questions relate to astronomy, either. Unfortunately, Yahoo answers doesn't have a category called "Groundless Theories and Other Notions of Pure Fantasy", so I can see where the conspiracy nuts have a hard time decided where to put their questions.

I gave Best Answer to someone who professed faith but kept a cool head in his response. As he correctly surmised, the point to my question is not to start a religious debate, but rather to illustrate the callousness often displayed by supporters of conspiracy theories.

Clearly, many posters here were appalled to read statements questioning the validity of the pivotal event in their religious doctrine - with as many responses as I got, it's obvious I struck some nerves. As rude as my question may seem to some of you, it is much less rude than some questions that have been posed to astronauts who actually walked on the moon. Imagine you are one of those astronauts. What would be your reaction when you are asked to swear on a stack of Bibles that your moon mission was not faked? What would be your reaction to having the central event in your life questioned, the moment for which history will remember you? Well, some of you now know how that makes you feel, and you can empathize.

I absolutely want my name put on the board with the others who defend the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe in the living Christ with all my heart.

If I understand your question's intent though, it was more of a jab at those who support the possibility of a faked moon landing. I personally believe that the moon landing was real. I do not, however, feel that people are insane for thinking our gov't capable of such duplicity and deceit.

Hey, it's been done.

Jesus died very quickly on the cross, quickly enough for Pilate to be amazed: normally it took several days for people to die from crucifixion. Moreover, Jesus's legs weren't even broken. Normally legs were broken before crucifixion, in order to hasten death.

Just before dying, Jesus was given offered some liquid (supposedly sour wine) on a sponge - and he died right after that. Did the sponge contained some drug that would make Jesus appear dead, so his followers could remove him from the cross? Well, probably not - but to a neutral observer, trickery of that sort seems much more likely than the "miracle" explanation. After all, miracles are inherently pretty darn unbelievable. Add in other favorable circumstances - a day of no guards, a wealthy supporter, and being placed in the wealthy supporter's own tomb, by him - and trickery comes across as a distinct possibility.

Of course, if Jesus didn't actually die on the cross, then there's no difficulty at all with him being "resurrected", the corpse vanishing, the "resurrected" Jesus providing the evidence that convinced doubting Thomas, and so forth.

Richard Carrier has looked into all this stuff in some detail. He believes Jesus probably did die on the cross, but he does present the various alternative explanations (including this one), which certainly seem more plausible than simply explaining that "a miracle happened". After all, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, and the resurrection story is about as extraordinary as a claim can get.

Ouch.
The Resurrection of Jesus cannot be proved or disproved.
It is purely a question of faith. (Religion)
ALL theories are subject to proof and that includes
“Conspiracy Theories”.
Conspiracy permeates human history, so that in itself shouldn’t surprise.
Almost all “conspiracy theories” today go in the face of government. Many people simply don’t accept “official” explanations as being truthful when they fly in the face of reason. Some don’t accept them period.
What is “loony” to a partisan political propagandist might be inescapable fact to a physicist. Who would you believe?
Reason itself transcends intolerance.
Whether a theory merits examination depends on one’s tolerance or “spin”. There must be grounds. Whether they are reasonable is another matter.
“Conspiracy” should never be a premise although it may be an inescapable conclusion.
Like they say, “The proof is in the pudding”.
As for lunar cheese theory? Well...it’s fun for some.

How about “Conspiracy Theories” as a Yahoo category?
You're a Math guy aren't you?

P.S. Yes, I do believe in the Resurrection of Jesus.

If 20% of the population believes the moon landing was faked, and if 10% of the population believes that Jesus' Resurrection was faked, then if 5% believes both were faked, what percentage of the population believes both were not faked? Ah, never mind, this is a math question, my goodness if I'm asking people to actually think.

Not faked whatsoever. To those who question scripture, they should first dare to look at how Christ challenged people who listened to him speak in His day, and afterwards. Put forth the effort to see if His claims were true. You'll find that true biblical Christianity is far more valid than what we experience going about our every day lives. Would you die for something that isn't worth staking your life upon, if it weren't true? Check out Foxe's Book of Martyrs. Jesus also said, 'Blessed are those who have not seen, yet have believed'

See the link below to refute the current ramblings of men like James Cameron. This is seriously old news and to me it comes off much like a stunt of someone trying hard to resurrect his own carrer.

it was real, if it hadn't occured then there would be no basis for Christianity...a major point in that belief is that he was able to rise again after death. Of course people are going to dispute this and question it and theorize it because faith and religion is truly in the eye of the beholder. So who has a solid 100% fool-proof answer? Not me, but I know what I believe is true and I believe Christ was crucified and rose again in 3 days. Hopefully this helped.

Jesus' Resurrection was real. If it was faked, then how could someone from this point in time go back to Biblicoal (How ever u spell that) times?? Maybe someone WAY back then couldve done it. But it is real. The Holy Bible is real and it is truth. Who couldve made such a book? Certianly not someone from this point in time. It had to be from Biblicoal times. So Jesus' resurrection was told to us from the Bible and the Bible is real. So thats pretty much what I have to say

I don't think it was "faked". I do however believe that many of Jesus' followers may have been so disappointed / saddened by his death that they wanted so much to believe he was not really dead that they proposed that he ascended into heaven, in other words it was more a case of their wishful thinking gone too far. There is also the possiblity that the Romans did not want his followers to get hold of his corpse and use it to continue worship or make him a martyr so they got into the tomb and stole it away to a location that no one would ever find out about.

The evidence points that God is just a more Evolved version of us from a different point in time. And God's Power and Morality is our Strength and like wise. If his Creations was all evil than God would be too or we wouldn't exist. God had to love us for what we are now or what we are going to be in life. Love is Unconditional. I don't believe any of us will go to hell cause of that type of bond. The ones that go to hell. Go their every day...Their is redemption for those who seek it. Redemption goes beyond faith and religion. It's about your character and purpose in this World. When Humanity understands Love they will understand God and in that enlightened state that will learn the truth that their is more to us than we know. We are gods all of us fighting the same evil. God is not our Enemy. Unless your at enemy with yourself he is living inside all of us. God is Conscious, God walks you around Dangers. God is your lighthouse in a World corrupted by Evil Darkness. Immorality comes at the price of Bad Karma and Suffering. Be a Beacon to others and be Selfless and the universe will bend to make your life pleasent. God will bring Heaven to Earth once you make absolution with him and understand your place not give into the snares and materialism of this World. We are about family and helping those who can't help themselves. That is how you get blessed and that is when more of your God Powers and Spiritual Gifts will emerge in you. These things of the unknown will finally be made unknown to you. You just have to use good judgement whether things are Blasphemous or from God. Sometimes God will contradict what the church tells you. It's okay cause it's better to truth in yourself in God rather than some Elite Pastor at some Fear Mongering Church. Swallow your Pride and believe in yourself and the Heavens will come down to Earth to reward you. Karma is key to understanding God and inner and mental peace.

Hi. Possibly. Anything can be faked. Is the internet real? Looks real. Do people have faith in the internet? Some do. Religious belief is different. It requires blind faith. Since many people have this faith, it does not matter.
