I'd really like to see the Perseid meteor shower. I read on yahoo today that it is supposed to be most visible tonight. Let me just say that I don't know anything about this kind of stuff
I have two questions.
First, is there any possible way that I could see it... I live in Philadelphia (a city).
Second, if you think that there is any way for me to see it (even with the city lights), which direction should I look? Or does that even matter?

Thanks in advance :]

The Perseid Meteor shower should be going on right about now 'til 4:00. Look Northeast. I live around 30 minutes out of Philadelphia [Furlong, PA] so I am in the same situation as you are. It's overcast here, so I don't think we will be able to see much of anything. Darn clouds.

I saw some meteors, about 7 little ones and one beauty with a colourful tail. The sky was clear last night but it's cloudier today, and apparently the meteor shower will last for a couple more days so you might see something. I'm in the UK by the way. The meteors seemed to be heading from North East to South West - ish.

You should be able to see it as long as you don't have too much ambient light where you are. The best hours to view it tonight are between 11:00 and 3:00 am. It will appear in the northeastern sky.

There's a new moon tonight, which will improve visibility. But if (like me) you live in a really urban area, it's best to drive out a ways for optimum viewing! Good luck!

I just got back in from looking at it and I have street lights all around me. (I live in MI by the way). Even with the street lights, I still saw about 1 meteor every two minutes. They are so big and bright the ambient light doesn't matter at all. It's so amazing!!
ALso, I saw more of them when I was looking straight ahead to the horizon..I saw very few looking straight up.
