i'm in california and i know that everybody knows that they're in the north-eastern sky but where!!!! high? low??

okay so what degree is it from the ground.. is it in the sky or on the horizon?

All over it! There are more in that general direction, but they cover the whole sky. Some brighter ones will streak across most of the sky. Look northeast, then up 60-70 degrees or so. From there, your eye is likely to catch most of them. Don't stare at one spot, but move your eyes around a little.

Right now it will be pretty low in the sky but get higher (and more frequent) as the night goes on.

I saw a meteor in the vicinity of the Cassiopeia constellation (It looks like a "W" rotated to the left). Try looking there ^^.
