Best thing to do is get a lounge chair, face the North and just lay there and look at the stars.
Meteors are no always bright. You see them streaking here and there.

Hello Beaut...
Went out just little while ago...
40 minute period = about 30 Meteors.
Look to North and Northeast...but hold your head so that you can see total sky all around you. These meteors are kind of small and don't light up all the way across the sky like big ones do... These seem to light up only 1/10 or 1/15 of distance across the entire sky.

Sometimes they just pop out at you. I lived on Manitoulin Island, and as I was biking back (1h 30min from town) to Barrie Island from work, I passed by the lake. The sky that day was so clear you could see all of the stars in the sky. All of a sudden my side vision caught a huge red baseball sized meteor in the sky. It didn't flash right on past, but took its time going into the distance. It was so cool, I have never seen one like that again.

I'm in mid Tennessee, nice, dark, and rural where i live. Was out there for about an hour-before the peak time, we saw at least 25-30. Couple real good ones, real big, bright, slow moving, left tracers :) I noticed they were all over the sky really. Focused on the North-Northeast like they said, then they'd fly directly over my head. I'd look that way, and they'd go NNW...couldn't win lol. Keep looking, just scan the sky, you'll see them. They are quick though!

I saw around 10 or so between 10:15 and 10:50. I'm in western Canada in a rural area, so very few lights :]
Several of them were amazing. They were so bright they had visible smoke trails lit up behind them. I never saw them like that back in the city.

I saw some on the news. I think I have to go outside and check for some. I live in northern California so I am not sure if I am going to be able to see them because of all the lights. You probably haven't seen any because of the city lights. You would have to go somewhere were there aren't any lights.

Spent an hour looking in a dark field outside of Dallas after seeing a nice one in my back yard. Not one seen in that hour. Heading back out at 2 am though, when they're supposed to be 50 per hour.

I'm in California. My fiancee and I went out to one of the state parks and didn't see any, so I went home, set up my lawn chair and saw 10 in like 1 hr and half.
