Vulcan orbits the star 40 Eridani A. This is in a triple star system about 16 light-years from Earth. Scientists believe the planet Vulcan might exist and that's why NASA is devoting a mission to try and locate it. Star Trek used as much true scientific data about the universe, planets, stars, etc. as it could and created devices, etc. that were science fiction back then but are now becoming a reality. NASA isn't saying they will find life on Vulcan. Its an interesting mission. NASA might know something we don't. What's your views on this?

NASA swallows up like billions of dollars each year. But what is NASA really good for? we do not benefit from its research in outer space.

because stars are so far away, in the event of an explosion, would the image of the event take thousands of years to reach my eye, or would I be seeing it as if it were happening at that very second?????

since the first man-made object launched into space, man has left a liter of "space junk" from scrap metal parts of rockets to segments of afterburners that launch the space shuttle into orbit. in this article i found in AP http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/mysterious-object-turns-out-to-be-space/20070511203309990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001
a piece of metal (definitely man-made) crashed from space into a home in new jersey, what i want to know is, does all this junk have an effect on the earth's atmosphere? - other than raining down on us.

Its bad enough the the world we live in is polluted, but now they are saying the universe is full of debri, parts from rocket launches. Not only do we have to worry about climate change but we have to worry about objects falling from the sky

"Quote: There's huge amounts of material that have been left by the various space programs of the world,"

For people who pay billions of dollars to go into outer space, stations like nasa say its to expensive to clean up.

When we look at a picture of a galaxy, how is it possible that we see dish, like galaxies in a near perfect circle (ok, with an angle due to the point of view). There is a huge disparity of distances of light sources from the closes point to us and the farthest point from us. We look at a picture on a computer, and the pixel to the side corresponds already to quite a few thousands of light-years away (specially on galaxies photos).
I think that light from the farthest point of the galaxy would be messed up due to the time span, and other light sources. There should be a sort of a time-caused lag on the image related to light travel, and we don't see that lag.

Every night when am ready to sleep on my bed i just muse about weird things & i keep thinking of it till get sleep. Last week i was just thinking that would invent a torch kind of thing which when switched on would give a black light kind of ray & would make things invisible when pointed on it. Exactly the vise versa of a normal torch. One can see things only when light falls on it & makes it visible to us.So if would inventa toech like this i would become famous.
Later when i was thinking about this matter i got to know that the only way to invent this is by putting a black hole in my torch & as soon as i switch it on it makes things invisible in front of me. However i know that the black hole does not emit any kind of rays but this was the only thought that came to my mind for its invention. After thinking so much i went to sleep.I know whatever i though was above my ken and impossible. I still keep thinking of many weird things every night before i sleep.
Did you like my imaginatio

All the planets in our system that have rings are jovian, but some people have said in the far future the moon of Mars, Phobos will brake up and become a ring, howver i thought Mars would be too small.

There is a lot of difference between the modern scientific description and the ancient description of earth, sun and moon. The modern science says that the earth is not flat and it revolves round the sun.
The Jain literature or any ancient literature gives very different picture of these. Does it mean that the ancient books are no more valid?
