the majority of space programs that I have ever heard of launch rockets and other space bound objects from low lying areas instead of from higher altitudes? Dose it not take more energy for an object to reach orbit/space from lower lying areas?

"The planet was discovered by the European Southern Observatory's telescope in La Silla, Chile, which has a special instrument that splits light to find wobbles in different wavelengths. Those wobbles can reveal the existence of other worlds."

That's where i found out about it and I was wondering what the name of the instrument is.

was found on this website:
" http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/04/25/habitable.planet.ap/index.html "

1. the flag waves. how does it move if u have no oxygen which means u have no air in space?
2. you can see the footsteps of the traveler, but yu can't see the mark that the spaceship they came in left?. i mean, doesnt the ship weight more and is havier, so it should leave a mark?
3. why is the background all black?. where are the stars?

ID Stars: A&B.
A=Sun mass.
B=2A
AB distance = Sun/Earth
Radius both very small, or zero

Orbit shape: circular both (eccentricity zero).
period must be the same, but...

I think the semi axis is different, yes? so...
How the Kepler's 3rd Law must be written for both stars ?

for a space ship, wouldn't the time it takes to get there be halved with every doubling of top speed meaning that to get there in 200,000 years it would have to be doubled once, and 100,000 doubled again, and so forth until it could be reached in 100 years or less. How many times would the top speed need to be doubled to make travel to it practicle? Is some sort of program in order to do this a good idea?
