The prefix Peri- means the nearest the orbiting body gets to the body orbited and the prefix Ap or Apo- means the furthest away that the orbiting body gets from the body orbited.

Perigee is the nearest the moon gets to the earth, Apogee the furthest the moon gets from the Earth.

Perihelion is the nearest the Earth (or any other planet) gets to the Sun, Apogee the furthest the Earth gets from the Sun.

Helios was the Greek word for the Sun from which we get the word heliocentrism. Geology. geography, geocentrism are all words that indicate a word containing the syllable ge- is something to do with the earth, not the sun.

So the first contributor can be seen to have supplied the definition of perihelion as the answer to a question on perigee and the second contributor can be seen to have subsumed sun-orbiting bodies into the definition of earth-orbiting ones,

The more general terms periapsis and pericentre can be used to cover all situations of one body orbiting another without worrying what the two bodies are.

It refers to the orbit of a planet or satellite. Apogee is the farthest distance and perigee is the closest distance from the planet or satellite to the object that is being orbited.
