Its brighter than anything Ive observed recently, about 3-4 times that of any nearby star in the skies.

Venus. It is currently near the maximum distance that it can appear to be from the Sun. That is why it is so noticeable right now.

It can be sirius as sirius is the brightest object in the night sky.Its a star with a visual apparent magnitude of −1.47. It is located in the constellation Canis Major.

If you are looking after sunset than it the object is in the low western sky, then it is Venus.

Disagree...i could positioned it this way: grants are like stars...the darker the evening the fewer loom they strengthen into. My adventure is that grants fade with time, on your sentence the darker evening would symbolize the era
