The Rift Valley in north-east Africa. But not because great apes are found there now -- in the 100,000's of years since humans evolved, the climate and eco-system have changed quite a bit. These changes caused great apes and humans to migrate around quite a bit. The great apes never left Africa, but humans did.

haha. God threw up...funny. To answer a question that was in one of the answers. Everything is continuously evolving. Evolution takes A LONG AS S OF TIME. Just because the apes aren't evolving in your face where you can actually tell...over time they do evolve and so does everything else. Believing that god created the heavens and the Earth is completely disproved by science. Science and religion do not go together. I was excited to learn how things REALLY have been made.

From Chimpanzees. When you look at a monkey, imagine it standing straight up, being 5'10" or however tall you are, and losing the hair, you get something close to you. Humans have 98% of the DNA of Chimps--and all these "Religious" people are telling you otherwise.

Impossible to pinpoint exactly. Most likely candidate is Eastern Africa, since this is where most fossils of early protohumanoids are found, and where our closest living relatives (the great apes) are concentrated.
