The estimated cost, I think is 100 Billion to 1 Trillion Dollars.

Do you think this is absolutely foolish?

What if the NASA Space Ship had techinical problems while in Mars and so the Crew is stranded, do you think NASA will spend another trillion dollars to get the crew back?

Do you think that NASA will actually do this stupid mission?

If so, can someone explain some of the things that maybe NASA or our Government has in plan for an event like this?

recently a report on NPR mentioned that a researcher at the University of Arizona is working on the feasibility of puting a screen between the Earth and the Sun to shade the Earth and prevent global warming. i think this is the wrong approach because this solution does not address the cause of global warming. lets say that in this project is undertaken and succeeds some 50 years from now, would people care to reduce carbon dioxide emissions? it just seems like this solution is the path of least resistance. by the way, NASA has decided to fund this research. I have included a link that revealsmore about this project http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/11/061104090409.htm

Why are the largest craters we find on the Moon and Mercury so much larger than the largest craters we find on the Earth?

Because the largest craters were made early in each world's history, and geologic activity has erased all traces of this early period on the Earth's surface.

Because the Moon and Mercury have larger gravity, which can attract larger pieces.

Because the Moon and Mercury do not have atmospheres to protect them from the largest pieces that can hit.

Because the Earth's magnetic field protects us from larger impacts.

Because the Moon and Mercury have much larger volcanic eruptions.

The Moon is heavily cratered, but the Earth which "lives next door" is NOT. Why?

The active geology and weather on Earth destroy traces of impacts over millions of years.

All objects from space (no matter what their size) burn up in the Earth's atmosphere.

The magnetism of the Moon is more likely to attract metallic objects to hit it.

The Earth is heavily cratered, but all the craters are under the ocean.

The craters on the Moon are the result of active volcanoes; the Earth has few volcanoes compared to the Moon.
