Two basketball players are essentially equal in all respects. (They are the same height, they jump with the same initial velocity, etc.) In particular, by jumping they can raise their centers of mass the same vertical distance, H (called their "vertical leap").
The first player, Arabella, wishes to shoot over the second player, Boris, and for this she needs to be as high above Boris as possible. Arabella jumps at time t=0 , and Boris jumps later, at time tR (his reaction time). Assume that Arabella has not yet reached her maximum height when Boris jumps.

1) Find the vertical displacement D(t)= hA(t) - hB(t) , as a function of time for the interval 0Express the vertical displacement in terms of H , g , t and .
D(t) = ?
2)Find the vertical displacement D(t) between the raised hands of the two players for the time period after Boris has jumped (t>tR) but before Arabella has landed.
Express your answer in terms of t, tR , g , and H.
D(t)=?

The asthenopshere makes no sense. How can the earth go from solid (inner core), to liquid (Outer Core), Then Solid (Mantle), Then Liquid (Asthenosphere), back to solid (Crust)?

How is the mantle solid and the asthenosphere liquid? How do the plates move?

I AM SO CONFUSED!

does anyone know the proper step to take to open a zoo because my lifelong dream has been to own a zoo and i love lions so my dream was to at least own a lion and a monkey but i would just like to know how would someone go about starting a zoo how do you get all the permits and the right land and how do you know where to get the land and how much money do you think it would take. i know ill probably never have enough money so dont start telling me how its a lost cause because i know it probably is unless i could somehow raise millions of dollars by making a fake charity or something (before you start telling me how wrong that is im not planning on opening a fake charity)

finding surface area where curve x={2y-1}

I've done a CD for 1/(8y-4) and then a u substitution for {2y-1} to cancel a term, but that still leaves me with an y term in my new integral.

I know writing the whole answer out on a computer is tedious, so any suggestions on how to go about solving this would really be appreciated.

why are we spending time and money looking for life on mars, an obviously barren and lifeless planet. why dont we take a few years to develope a new, faster space probe that could make it to Gliese 581 c. sure it would take a long time, bt thats the best chance for life, titan and europa are decent chances, but cmon. if not now then when, if we want to find life outside of earth then we need to persue realistic planets, no matter how far away they may be.
