I have three saving schemes i invented on my own. i have a grand plan of 5 years.
project A: itook an investement policy with an insuarance
i was told i will be paying sh 1481 every month for 5 years.that will be my total investement. in return i will paid as follows.
(a)5000 at each chrismas.
(b) on maturity of the policy i will be paid my total investment plus
7.5%x50000x5. project B: I will open an account with a bank. on the first day i deposit a shilling,second day 2 sh third day 3 shilling. this trend coninues for 365 days. each new day i deposite one more sh than yesterday untill the end of year with a final deposit of sh 365. in the second to fifth years i repeat the process again starting with one shilling again. project C: i open achildren accounts and deposite sh 100 every day for five years. if i channel all this monies from projects a,b and c to one final account. How much money will i have in that account at the end of the five years?

I know this might be silly, but this has been bugging me. I had to do this problem and it looks simple, but I'm lost for words. I might be over looking something, but I just can't seem to figure it out. In the problem I need to subtract 1 from 0.36 which = 0.64

Another way to look at it, as shown in the book is:

1-(0.36) = 0.64

How is this the answer? It doesn't make any sense to me. I know it's the answer because I checked using a calculator, but I want to know how you arrive at this answer step by step. Please help, if anyone knows how you get this answer.
