Couldn't agree with you more there Strongbow... Surely if time travel were possible - there would be people from the future wandering about all over the place!
Wouldn't like to travel forward though - the way things are going, there might not be much left to see.

Strongbow, with 60% of the Western World Obese, you'd want to be asking how to turn back the clock if you were sat in front the of the comp with a body like a Humpbacked Whale after and all inclusive holiday.

Thus I believe its wishful thinking on the part of all obese people who want to turn back time. So when a person is asking about time travel, I would automatically suggest you consider them to be obese. :)

I'd say it was apathetic ignorance. They don't fancy tackling relativity or listening in Physics/Science classes so they switch their brain off, watch TV/ a movie and go "Wow, I wonder if that's possible", and instead of thinking "Hmmm maybe I should research it by looking into the language of science or engaging with someone who might know", they ask Yahoo.

Whoever said ignorance was bliss did NOT know this type of person!

There is a strong urge to go back in time because people want to correct some of the mistakes and thus have a different present and future.

Why do people keep asking questions about relativity, worm-holes, Area 51, space-time and mass-energy?
I have my own opinions as to the answer, but I'll keep them to myself ☺

There is always a desire to revisit a path that we once trotted.

Experiencing something for the second time provides the opportunity for the new and old perspectives to intermingle and to satisfy many "what-if" possibilities.

curiosity.

unfortunately, to go back to the past, you need to travel at the speed of light or faster than the speed of light.
To travel at the speed of light or faster than the speed of light, we need to have no mass.
hitherto, human beings still can't figure out a way to reach that extent.
