In electrolytic cell, normally the metal in anode is oxidised to give out electrons and cathode takes electrons to from metal.
In zinc production, the anode is lead ( Pb) and the cathode is aluminium (Al) and the eletrolyte is zinc sulfate ( ZnSO4)
My question is why in the anode, the water is oxidised but not the lead metal???

I buy Darwin and his evolutionary theories 100 %. One thing that puzzles me is how do genes for homosexuality get passed on, since presumably homos engage primarily in non reproductive sex. What selective pressure could their be to make this non reproductive behavior persist and how is it passed on? Of course, Im assuming that in many cases, genes play a part in a persons being gay or straight.

the sea is salty because every fresh h2o stream has a small amount of dissolved salt in it. in the sea the salt becomes concentrated because the sun evaporates the h2o, leaving the salt accumulates. if this is so, why the amount of salt in the sea did not steadily increasing?

A house with a 17.3 x 103 ft2 floor area and 8.00 ft high ceilings is to be heated with propane. How many kilograms of propane would be needed to raise the temperature of the air inside the house from 65.0 oF to
70.0 oF ?. In this calculation your are ignoring the temperature of the walls etc.

The moloar specific heat of the air inside the house is 30.2 J mol -1 oC -1
The average density of air over this temperature range can be estimated to be 1.22 g/L.
The molar mass of air is 29.1 g/mol.
There are 28.317 liters in a cubic foot.
The molar heat of combustion of propane is -2220.047 kJ/mol

I heard it was dexter but im not sure.
I'm curios as to what kind of cows this small herd in Opihikou is. They are pretty small, so I was thinking Dexter, but I can't really tell. Some of the cows are red, most black, (some mixed colors too). the guy who owns them says when he bought the land- they came with it, and he has no idea what breed they are. I wish I had a picture of them.

Often you see the phrase associated with high voltage plasma tubes and lasers. I always fail to comprehend the meaning. I guess an increase in the flow of electrons (like a battery) but what about conservation of charge (Kirchhoff's current law), should there not be a deficit elsewhere, is it just that the electrons are accelerated? As you can see i am confused, anyone with any insight into this???
