You might be surprised to learn that fear of heights is quite common among pilots. I know this from personal experience, and I have heard this from others as well. A quick web search shows this to be a common topic. I am a pilot who does a lot of local flying and some flight instruction, and am quite afraid of heights (like looking over the ledge of a tall building). I never experience this in the cockpit, however. I imagine that space flight would be the same.

I am VERY afraid of heights. I cannot lean on the railing of a balcony several stories up, because I am terrified it will break and I will fall. But I have private pilot license and have done loops and rolls in an airplane without fear. I have flown weightless maneuvers, where I am weightless for a few seconds, but will not get on one of those free fall rides. I am afraid to ride big roller coasters that my 12 year old daughter rides all the time. I have heard there is at least one shuttle astronaut with the same fear. She is afraid of roller coasters but flies in space easily. Strange, isn't it?

I terrified of heights but i would over come them just to go into space, in space there is no up or down so my fear of heights wouldn't be as bad.

I'm afraid of heights but I'm not afraid in airplanes, so a spaceship probably wouldn't scare me either.

I think that, as long as you don't see outside, you would not feel so bad
