i was induced about a month ago and the way the midwife did it was by putting this gel stuff into my vagina onto my cervix to soften it. i was never told or asked what exactly it was called. so i was wondering if anyone knew what it was called unless there is more than one type.

I need to know if I'm paranoid or just too hormonal. I'm 13 weeks along today. I started having almost stabbing pains, along with other cramping, they were so bad they woke me up. I called the "24 nurse line" at 7am & was told they'd page the nurse & call back.

Nurse never called. I called back about 40 minutes later & was told it was an answering service & they failed to contact anyone else. I was then told my doctor wasn't in until 10, to call back then if I continued to have pain & lay in bed till then. I called about 10:15, they said they'd call me back after talking to my doctor. At 12 they call me back & AGAIN tell me they'd check with my doctor. At 1:30 they FINALLY call me back & say I need to stay home from work for a couple days & rest, no need to come in for any type of work up.

Pains continued, although they aren't as bad. Im very upset with how this was handled, but being my first pregnancy I dont know if I'm overreacting. Was this anything close to proper response?

Hi everyone, I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I'm miserable. I've already gained 65 lbs. (of healthy weight, I was too thin before pregnancy so the doctors aren't worried about the weight gain) anyway, I'm 65% effaced, dilated somewhere around a 2, babies engaged. I am so sick of being pregnant. If I took a walk, how long would need to walk in order for it to 'hopefully' start labor? I know its not a guarantee, but I'm trying everything here. Thanks everyone for your answers.

I felt the baby move sort of early in my pregnancy (about 15 weeks). I know when its early on, you don't feel the baby all the time. I am now 18 weeks and sometimes feel the baby move a lot during the day and other days not at all.

I know the baby is very active after an ultrasound at 13 weeks and seeing the baby pushing off the wall of my uterus, hiding, and turning its head to the "camera". The baby's heart rate is 150 bpm (consistently). I have another ultrasound next week.

Is this normal? When do you feel the baby move more often?

My sister announced at my baby shower a couple weeks ago that her and her husband are officially trying to get pregnant with their first child. She is 38 and about 70 pounds overweight. I am worried about the risks she is putting herself and her baby under by getting pregnant because of her obesity. I love my sister very much and it hurts me to see her breathless after mounting a flight of stairs, so I don' undertsnad why she doesn't consider adopting instead of getting pregnant. I don't thnk she has seen her doctor about it because when i try talking to her she gets very sensitive and closes herself off from me.

How can I help her? Could she possibly have a healthy pregnancy while she's as fat as she is?

I am pregnant with my first and one of the older women in the office whenever she sees me is like, YOUR HUGE, YOU POPPED or my favorite I KNOW WHAT YOU DID THIS WEEKEND.....ATE! I know I should be really offended but I know Im not big, I wasnt overweight to begin with and Im 5 months and have only gained 10 pounds. My husband says Ilook great and I agree. I just dont understand what posseses people to think that they can just tell pregnant women how huge they are, as if they are unaware, has this happened to anyone, whats the dumbest thing someone has said to you?

my mom is 26 weeks pregnant with twins (through IVF) and last weekend she slipped in the shower and hurt her back on the faucet and dislocated her knee. She spent the weekend in the hospital and was released last Monday but strtictly on bed rest because she even has to be helped to have someone help her to walk to the bathroom. I don't understand what her problem is because when i got home from school today she was trying to get herself off the coach and into the wheelchair we rented without any help. She keeps asking me to take her outside for a walk but I won't because she is insiting on bringing her cane to try and walk with my support.

This is ridiculous and my dad works really long hours. I don't understand why she can't just stay in bed for the next 10 weeks until her C section.

I am 3 months pregnant. I went to the ER last Thursday and I had some mild bleeding. They did blood tests and said that my hormone levels were normal but they could not find a fetal heart beat. They also said that there was no fetal movement on the untrasound. They never actually told me for sure that the baby was dead. I've had mild bleeding all week but I have not passed fetal tissue. Has this happened to anyone and their baby actually survived?

I haven't had my period in two months. I did a home pregnancy test last night and it came back negative. I'm just wondering what the chances are that it could be wrong? Has anyone ever had a test show negative when they really were pregnant?

20 week ultrasound showed the baby at almost 22 weeks. Is this normal to have this done only because of this? I dont want to be pricked and poked for the next 4months if it comes out positive(especially if it is a false positive)

I know that the gender of the baby generally depends on the genetics of the paternal side, but might the things you consume or other variables affect what gender the baby is?
