32oz of water really isnt as bad as it sounds, drinking it all at once is better than a little at a time, your more likely to want to pee otherwise

Don't worry about the amount of water you have to drink just have a full bladder. The reason for this is so your bladder is pushing on your uterus so it is easier to see the baby. If you notice when you drink a bottle of water and 20 minutes later you have to pee just drink that amount 20 min. before your u/s. And when you get in there and see your baby the last thing on your mind is having to pee and you just enjoy the moment.
Good luck and have fun.

I was never told to drink 32 oz. of water an hour before. I just got up, ate breakfast, drank my usual amount of milk, water, whatever it was that day with breakfast, and went to the ultrasound. Both times I was told I was having a perfectly healthy baby girl, and they were right both times. I actually can't think of any logical reason why you would need to drink that much beforehand.

As miserable as it sounds it's not that bad. You are more concerned with watching the screen then needing to pee. Usually the ultrasound tech will allow you to pee halfway through or so after they get all their measurements. Also, I would suggest drinking orange juice or mountain dew(unless you've sworn off caffeine) it will make the baby move more and you'll see it on the screen it's really wonderful to see.

its cruel isnt it, making a pregnant women fill her bladder and then hold onto it.lol. we are asked to do the same thing here in australia and the last 2 times i has my 18-20 week scan i was so busting the sonographer said i can let half out. yes sounds strange but at that point you will do whatever it takes to be comfortable. all my ultrasounds since then i have done the same thing and never been told i cant have it done.

Yay!!! You will not even be thinking about it being uncomfortable, just your bladder is full....wait till' you see that beautiful growing baby inside of you..... there is nothing like it!! I was spoiled because I got one every 3 weeks with both of my boys because I was high risk...... you'll see his/her little fingers and toes and what looks to be a big head, but it's not!!! Good Luck and take a blank video tape if they still do that, and make sure they give you a pic to go home with......and I hope it's not shy and shows you what you want to see as far as gender!!! Good Luck

I didn't do it until I was in the waiting room, about 15 min before the appt. My bladder was full right away, and they only need a full bladder for a small part of the exam, then you can pee and finish up the rest of the scan. Good luck!!!

Its not bad at all but you feel that your going to pee on yourself but once they see the baby in the ultrasound they will let you pee and finish up the rest of the test

They actually told me to fill my bladder ahead of time and before the u/s they told me to empty it. It stretches it out or something. I thought it was stupid but there was rhyme to their reason.

It's the coolest thing to watch, though. I hope you get an u/s tech who explains everything to you and shows you the different body parts of your baby.
