i am 24 weeks pregnant and i drink mostly water.

however, sometimes for breakfast it settles my stomach if i have a coke. prior to being pregnant, i rarely drank caffeine. the doctor said that one cup of coffee (or your preference of caffeinated drink) is ok.

the doctor said, however, to not consume artificial sweeteners. however, i do not like sugar drinks (feel like my teeth are gonna rot!) my mom is diabetic and i've been drinking artificially sweetened foods my whole life.
anyway, my point is that i try to drink water water water, but sometimes you just need a soda.

try this option, also... i like to mix club soda (calorie free!) with a fruit juice, such as pineapple or pomegranate... even grape! it is VERY yummy and gives you both a fruit and a carbonation fix! (caffeine free and only sugar from the amount of fruit juice you use!)

best wishes.

Drinks like that (Sprite, for example) are fine *in moderation.* The problem with soda (even caffeine free) is that it's empty calories...it's nothing but sugar water and has no nutritive value. For every can of Sprite you drink, that's one less nutritious thing you could be eating. If you drink a sprite and it fills you up, you could have had some carrot sticks and ranch dressing, but after drinking the pop, you're no longer hungry, you see?

If you're asking if it's better for you than regular caffeinated pop (Coke, for example) yes, it is, becuase you're not ingesting caffeine. They're both still not so great for you though.

In the US, nothing is safe during pregnancy. Even normal amounts of vitamins have been the basis of lawsuits, and lawyers have more impact than doctors do on obstetric practice. In any rational world, reasonable consumption of caffeine-containing drinks, or for that matter, alcoholic drinks, could not be faulted. But we don't live there, and scientific evidence is nothing compared to the threat of a lawsuit.

If you liek carbonated beverages and want to avoid sugar and caffeine, drink Club Soda and Seltzer water. they are safe. They have nothing but Water with carbonation. I stopped drinking the other stuff and have lost 15 pounds and feel much better. try it.

Of course.

Carbonation will also help you to feel the baby move. When she/he gets big enough for you to feel them, drink some carbonation, and then lay down. Mine would always put on a show.

if they are caffeine free you can have as many as you like, but if not limit yourself with them! it is good not to drink them sort of drinks in pregnancy as they contain empty calories that have no use, they just increase the weight gain during pregnancy and may be hard to shift after the birth!

Carbonated sodas are hard on the kidneys, but a couple of times a week is a non-problem. I formerly had kidney problems and my doc said just no more than one a day.

They are perfectly fine and so is caffine as long as you don't over due it. I am 2 weeks from my due date and have been drinking carbonated drinks with caffine since the very beginning and my baby is completely healthy and perfect!

Ok, a little bit of caffiene is alright during pregnancy. Now that is cleared up, yes as long as they dont make you uncomfortable drinking them. Sometimes they can make heartburn worse. Just be your own gauge!

They are OK, but they are high in sugar (not good for you, empty calories), and can give some women heartburn (the carbonation).
I'd avoid them if you can.
