i was induced about a month ago and the way the midwife did it was by putting this gel stuff into my vagina onto my cervix to soften it. i was never told or asked what exactly it was called. so i was wondering if anyone knew what it was called unless there is more than one type.

Hey,
There are a few...
Cevigel, prostaglandin gel and thats all that I know of sorry!

In Australia we have a Yellow Pregnancy card in which we're given back after the baby is born and it should tell you on there when they booked you induction what gel to use...

If you don't have one of those then maybe you can talk to your doctor at your baby's check-up...

Good Luck and congrats on your baby!

Different brand names (Prepidil, Cervadil) but all are prostagladin gels - and they contain hormones.
