Evening primrose - some say it has the effect of bringing on labour.
Don't be afraid of being induced. Better that, than having something go wrong with the baby for being too long inside! Midwives can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think two weeks overdue is the very latest it is safe to leave the baby without inducing labour. I was two weeks overdue when they induced labour, and afterwards they said it would have been better to have induced a little sooner. That was yonks ago, but a young friend was recently given 2 weeks as a deadline, and went into labour naturally just before. (That was in Brazil.)

hi

Evening primrose oil is used to improve the quality of cervicle mucus whihc in turn helps the sperms have a better chance of living longer inside the woman...My Dr and the internet sits have told me that since I am still trying to conceive not to take the capsules after my ovulation date as it causes contractions and dilation and that is exactly what I dont want when I am trying. I basically take the tablets from the forst day of my period till I ovulate and then stop...but in your case I guess you should start taking it...I think its superb way of indiucing labour because it has no side effects and in fact it is actually great for you body! good luck

Supposedly, evening primrose helps dilate your cervix. It works for some women but it's not guaranteed. It's also recommended for PMS and other womens health problems.

My midwife recommended it for me, also along with Red Raspberry Leaf capsules which are supposed to help tone and strengthen the uterus and minimize bleeding after birth.

I took both of them faithfully and went into labor at 38 weeks and had a natural birth with no complications.

the evening primrose capsules would dilate your cervix maybe.

you are going to experience pain during labour regardless, but at least if it's induced you'll have others around helping you and watching you. and seeing you are safe.
you can also be given medications at the hospital for pain during childbirth.
and you know that the pain will be over! just keep remembering it will be over. i know it's a bit scary. i was a little scared too.
if you are two weeks overdue, it's time to call your doctor, hospital.
good luck.

I've heard they are good for PMS, but never heard anything for bringing on labour. You could try the hot bath, hot curry and sex - it worked for me, even if the latter was the last thing I wanted to do! I just wanted to have the baby ASAP as it really is awful to go over the due date.

Good luck and I'm sure you will be a mum in 2-3 days!
