Hi everyone, I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I'm miserable. I've already gained 65 lbs. (of healthy weight, I was too thin before pregnancy so the doctors aren't worried about the weight gain) anyway, I'm 65% effaced, dilated somewhere around a 2, babies engaged. I am so sick of being pregnant. If I took a walk, how long would need to walk in order for it to 'hopefully' start labor? I know its not a guarantee, but I'm trying everything here. Thanks everyone for your answers.

I advise my moms to walk as close to 3 miles a day as possible, also, if your able sex might get things going as well, semen contains prostaglandin hormone similar to the gel they use in hospitals to induce

Several thoughts on that topic: 1. One could possibly read all 1189 chapters in a week. The question remains, though: how much would that person retain? Isn't this like speed reading? Hardly any benefit for that, IMO. 2. Some people don't read all of it because they "specialize", if you will, in one or two themes or sections or even books. Dr. Arthur W. Pink, for example, spent almost 15 years studying the Gospel of John. The results speak for themselves, and I can give you a website where you can read some of his books and other works on-line. As Dr. Pink himself observed, none of us will be experts on all the Bible. This would be impossible because, among other reasons, the Bible is deeper than any of us could totally comprehend. 3, Some aren't comfortable reading the Bible because they have a hard time understanding and/or comprehending the language. This isn't much of an excuse because there are now multiple translations available. all of which are more or less readable for the average person. 4. Sadly, others don't read it because they just don't think it's important, or perhaps because they don't get much of an incentive to read it. They should, but they don't. I don't understand. 5. One thing I personally do understand is that it's not easy to pick a starting point. Part of this is because the Bible isn't a compendium or patchwork of "A wrote this" and "B wrote that" and "C wrote something else" and "R pulled it all together"--no, the Bible is one organic whole. Incredibly, the first and the last books are interconnected because the Bible is GOD'S word, not just man's jottings or musings, e.g. The Gospels are always a good place to start, and in my opinion the Gospel of John is the best of the four as an introduction. I remember trying to read Jeremiah or Ezekiel just "on a whim" and promptly found another section! There may be other reasons, and I am certainly no expert. I just know from personal experience that sometimes, even believers are reluctant to read the Word. We read it to our profit and we ignore it or don't read it to our loss.

I am 37 weeks pregnant and I know how you are feeling! This is my second child and with the first NOTHING helped me go into labor. I walked 2-3 miles, sex, spicy food and I was so desperate I drank the castor oil which I do not recommend at all!! My first was born the day after her due date. But remember everyone is different and you may be able to walk 3 miles and get labor going but take it easy! Your little one will come very soon!

Good Luck!

Its different for each person. Sex also puts you into labor, its something thats in the sperm that puts you in labor, thats if you feel like having sex at this point. I walked almost 3 miles to no avail. Good Luck !!

No telling how far you would need to walk... but walking is def. good. Other old wives tales that help with the onset of labor are lots of sex (ha!), a foot massage, and nipple stimulation. Good luck!

everyone says to have sex. one of my friends was in your position a month ago, and she drank some castor oil (yes like the old wives tales) and she went into labor within a few hours... be safe. good luck.

I hear you! I am tired of pregnancy too! I have heard spicy food, sex, long walks, that kind of thing. Oh and that one cod liver oil is supposed to work I think

What worked for me was riding in an SUV on a really bumpy road, going fast. It was kind of an accident that we ended up doing that, but I had my daughter that night.

I have heard that imagining your girly parts opening up like a flower can help start labor. Kind of like meditation.
