My son is 3 months old. I had to stop breastfeeding at 7 weeks. Since then,we've been through about 4 different formulas and after those upset his tummy and gave him extreme gas and spitting up, we put him on Enfamil Lacto-free formula. Hes been on that for about a month now. Hes not as gassy and doesnt spit up too too much. My question is what if hes not really lactose intolerant ...and it was something else? Will it hurt him in any way to be on this lactofree formula? Last Dr visit, she said "as long as it has iron"....ok, but what if hes not lactose intolerant? What about when he turns 1 and starts on milk? Does that mean he has to drink soy because hes been on lactofree?

When my husband was a child they used formaldehyde on his skin for a medical reason, but not into his blood stream. Why are these things even included in vaccines? The more I read the more afraid I get. I've had my son's 2 scheduled vaccinations and each time he is sick for days afterwards. Now it's time for his 6 months and I am torn.

My 14 week old has been cooing a lot more, making more noises which I know is great and normal. Yesterday all of the sudden she started doing this deep (almost grunting) hmmmmm, hmmmmmm, hmmmmmm over and over. She does it when she is bored w/ whatever she is doing or my hubby or I leave her sight for a little to long. It doesn't even sound like her and it started out of nowhere! She is also suddenly eating like she did when she was a month old (every 2-3 hours) at night. So is this her just growing? Is it normal for them to all the sudden make a totally new noise...and do it...over and over and over... =) She is acting great otherwise, all happy, smiling, etc... Bear with me, this is my 1st.

My 3 and a half month old went from sleeping 6-8 hour stretches at night (yay!) to the past 2 nights waking every 2-3 hours. Each time she wakes she is hungry, because when I offer her bottle she will drink 4 to almost 6 ounces. For example last night she had bottle @ 9, was up at 12 and ate. Up at 230 crying, didn't know why...offered a bottle at 3 and she ate 6 ounces, then at 5:45 she was hungry again and ate 5 ounces. "normal" for her is last bottle between 8-9pm and up by 3 or 4am to eat, and then doesn't want much to do with food til about 9am. So these past couple days have thrown me a loop. Is this what happens during a growth spurt? She is happy as can be.

May be a dumb question, but oh well. I have one breast that is enormous and becoming engorged more and more the other looks normal but feels softer and "deflated" with very little milk, I am trying to feed daughter with that one more but she seems to only use as pacifier and seems hungry still still I feed on the other. I ordered a pump online, want to know if that will help or am I stuck with the one doing the job for two?

So it has been 3 weeks since my baby was born--we hit a growth spurt last week and she nursed almost 24/7...well, now i am so sore--it really isnt an engorgement sore, but the nipples are sore (last night, one looked swollen)
~~~I have only planned on breastfeeding for the first 2
months and then going to formula~~~
My nipples are so sore that i am dreading the next feeding. I fed her about 30 minutes ago and used a different position and it wasnt that bad...I seriously dread feeding on the other side though, it is more sore.
What can i do to help with the pain?
Do i put that lanolin on it? (my mom is allergic to that stuff~~how will i know if i am allergic too?)
I will have to go buy some so can i do this in the meantime--Vit E ?
Can i rub some Vit E on my nipples? I was thinking this would help to keep them from sticking to the breastpads or my bra (even when they arent leaking)
if i could afford formula--id be taking that route!!
I am on the mini-pill. I know every mother has a different experience with their periods(with my son i got my period back at six weeks and i was breastfeeding full time too). I just worry too much about becoming pregnant again. I have a two year old and a one year old. I have had several tests and they have been negative. I know its sad, to be wishing for a period, but it would make my life a little less stressful.
I was just discussing with my husband that we should get certified for that 'just in case' occurance that could happen to the baby.
If anyone has taken the course how much did it cost you?
It sounds so silly. But Im breastfeeding full time and only in serious need will I give my baby formula. For example if I run out of breastmilk to go, I make her a 4 oz bottle of Similac Advanced so I can take everyone to school in morning. Now I noticed when I give her this she goes without taking a poop for up to 3 days after that 1 : 4oz bottle! Now the last time I gave her only 2 oz of the stuff when we had to make a run out and she didnt go poopie for 4 days 6 hours! She just turned 2 months on the 19th. Her pediatrician told me today that it was because breastmilk cause constipation, I find this very hard to believe, because before all this started with the formula and non poopie diapers she had the seedy yellow breastmilk poopie diapers atleast twice a day if not more. She has many wet diapers everyday. My questions are: Did anyone go through this? Does breastmilk really cause constipation?? Do I need to have my pediatrician go kick rocks??? Thanks to all who reply.
If I put my daughter down, she screams everytime and wont stop. If I hold her, she stops. She is 2 months. All her docs say it is colic, but one says sounds like she has separation anxiety. Any tips how to break this? She does not have reflux and I have tried all the swings and sligs and carriers and wraps.
I wasn't due until February 9, but my little man came on December 9. At 31 weeks, he is small. He only weights 3 lbs. 4 oz. and is 17 in. long. He has to be in the Nicu for 4 morre weeks, and I am having a really hard time dealing. I have a 3 year old and even though she has done nothing wrong, I find myself yelling at her. I snap at my husband and all I want to do is lay around in the dark and cry. Every song I hear makes me think of the baby and I cry. I dont even feel like his mother. I feel like I had a baby and tossed it to someone else to take care of. I dont get to do the up all nights or rocking him to sleep, or hold him when he is crying. The nurses do that. I am becoming bitter and I am having really dark thoughts. I have even thought about ways to hurt myself so I can go back in the hospital to stay with him. I need help. I know I do. Any advice? Has anyone been through this?
My baby girl is always constapated. She cries, strains, and bleeds(streaks- not alot) when she actually passes stool. It seems she has hemrroids if babies can get them. We have moved from nursing, to soy formula, to hypoallergenic formula, to goatmilk. Her other symtoms- night waking and generally fitfulness- has inproved a little, but we still have tears and bleeding everytime she passes stool. It got worse with any food- prunes and juices included. Any suggestions? I would LOVE help
I thought I had a good medical reason for not breastfeeding my son but I have started to realise that if I had tried harder I may just have been able to breastfeed. It is eating away at me and whenever I see a breastfeeding related question on here I burst into tears because I so regret not breastfeeding my son. Has anyone been in a similar position and how did you overcome this guilt?
