try some gripe water i used to put a spoon full in a teat and let my baby suck it through there another thing is to push the baby's feet towards his/her tummy to try and release some of the wind... or place baby on your knee and sort of rock him/her in circular motions whilst baby is sitting on your knee

Infacol before a feed works well, as does turning baby frontwards and rubbing his/her back, walking up and down with them helps, as does a trip in the car or a walk in the pram.
Make sure baby's bottles (if bottle fed) has an anti colic teat on it. The best bottles my friends have found are Dr. Browns (expensive but VERY effective in preventing colic) and Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles which have a valve on them.
Try laying baby on his/her back and bringing the knees gently up to their chest as this can soothe tummy pains also.
If it gets too much pass baby to someone else for a break.
I know it's not much of a consolation but colic generally tends to ease off and stop by the time baby is three months-it's not forever.
Congrats on the baby-you're doing fine! XX

Hiya honey, firstly you have my sympathy. Its a nightmare! My wee one is now 5 and a half weeks, for the first week and a half he had colic that started from 10pm and went right through until 3am. He screamed the house down. I felt so useless (he's my first) We tried everything from the sound of the tumble dryer running to driving around for hours at a time. Pacing the floor night after night. My midwife said it was something he would just grow out of!!!
Unlike yourself I bottle fed, I changed to dr browns bottles (with the straw in the middle) and put him on infacol. We seen an automatic difference. He's now good as gold. You could maybe think about expressing and bottle feeding! Good Luck x

I'm a first time mom & didn't have this experience, so I'm just giving my uneducated opinion...
If your newborn has only begun crying yesterday and hasn't stopped, I think it's time to get to the docs. Hey, I might be a bit paranoid here- it could be just gas, but if my son were to cry for hours on end, out of the blue, then I'd be making an emeregency appt.
If you KNOW it's colic and I misinterpreted your question, then all the advice above me is all I would say as well.
Good Luck!

Hi there ny daughter was realy bad with colic i tried infacol which helped only a little, gripe water and most over the counter remedies, but nothing helped until my gp told me about colosyth granules which were a god send, you gaive them to baby 1 hour b4 feeding they are like sugar granules. They are homeopathic and are very safe for your baby. My gp was able to prescribe them to me as he runs a private clinic as well as nhs he is a professional in alternative remedies. Also try holland and barratt shop they have remedies for colic although i have not tried them on my baby, she is 11month old now. It wil get better for you and baby although it seems like it wont just now, but it does, try giving luke warm boiled water with a little sugar incase s/he has a sore tummy. Sometimes if your baby is a colic sufferer we can easily mistake their colic crying and it could be something else like thirst as well as colic. Hope this helps, but ask your health professional or pharmacy for advice on the granules. Take care and have a merry xmas xxx
Ps ashton and parson is homeopathic and boots stock it aswell as other remedies, some are for teething but are good for colic too. And are perfectly safe and natural. Oh and everything i have mentioned you can use while breast feeding. I know i said give baby water and many will say it is not needed because of breast milk, but it is good to get your baby used to the water and with it being luke warm it will help the wind and might even help your baby poo. Good luck again.

well first is the baby breastfed Or bottle fed? Secondly running water, vacuum , blow dryer usually works. But there are these homeopathic teething tablets that are also for colic and teething babies. Made by Hylands, they should sell them in the local drug store. They totally dissolve under the tongue. Since your baby is only 4 weeks , if you are a bottelfeeding put it in the milk. If breastfeeding put it in the tiniest amt of water so it dissolves then give it to the baby by spoon. I live by these tablets for my daughter( 7mos. 3 weeks) and for my son (4) when he was a baby. I really hope you try these. whenever i was asked me about colic , i told them to get Hylands and they called the moment the baby stopped crying and couldn't stop thanking me.

My cousin had colic when he was a little one. And his mom would carry him in a sling, she would also rock with him and hold him tight. Also try putting baby on your lap face down and rub his little back, co-sleeping with him. A craddle swing was also her life safer. She also got a mama bear and that helped a bit. Swaddle him if he likes that. If baby is formula feed make sure that isn't upsetting his tummy. Give you ped. a ring if they have ways to help you cope and help out baby. Sometimes white noise will work to like a fan. Best of luck to you! ((hugs)) It will pass. Also differnt family memebers would take baby for an afternoon/overnight so mom and dad could get some rest. The ped. will help you figure out if it is colic, or something else.

Ok..
Is your baby breastfed or bottlefed ??
If bottlefed look in your local store or pharmacy to see if they sell special baby bottles designed to help wth colic (bottles that have a plastic tube that runs from teat to base of bottle). I live in the UK and swear by Dr Brown Bottles they helped my little girls colic almost instantly. I guess you could use these even if u r breastfeeding it would just mean expressing the milk and putting into the bottle.
Another thing I swear by is lie your baby on his/her back and holding his/her feet move them in a circular motion as if peddling a bicycle. This helps to break up the colic in their tummy
I sincerely hope this helps you - I can sympathise

I went through the same thing when my daughter was very small. Actually she is 3 months now and she is still very fussy. Anyway, here are some things that you can try: Take her/him for a ride in the car, push them around in their stoller, bounce them, walk them around, or rock them. The thing that works the very best though is the vacuum. I guarantee if you turn it on, he/she will stop crying right away. Mine is running right now. You will probably be able to get him/her asleep this way. Once you do just move the vacuum farthe away a little bit at a time. Once you have it as far as you can then you should be able to turn it off. Hopefully the baby will stay asleep. Good luck. It does get better, I promise.

My son is 10 weeks old (my 3rd child) and he has colic too. My other 2 kids had "slight colic" as the dr's called it so they werent too bad. But my son cries for hours every night. I try nursing him and sometimes that helps for a few minutes and then the crying starts again. The only thing that seems to work for my son now (the bouncer broke and the batteries in the swing are dead) is to walk around holding him and singing softly right in his ear. It gives him something to concentrate on and it helps him to calm down. It takes a while but if you keep singing softly and right in his ear he will eventually calm down and concentrate on your voice. I hope this helps, if you need someone to talk to about colicy babies or anything else please feel free to email me at LilMomma22487@yahoo.com and God bless you

My daughter became into fussy/crying commencing at 6 pm each night, I asked the pediatrician approximately it and that i became into instructed toddlers are extra officious in the night, it rather isn't any longer inevitably colic. My daughter might cry on and off until finally around 8 or so, the only product that helped became into gripe water. as quickly as we would get abode from the babysitter's i might provide her a dose and it rather did help with the fussiness. Their bellies are nevertheless arising and in fact the fussiness and colic is from pains of their abdomen, the gripe water facilitates with that. I nursed my daughter, so whilst she became into in her fussy time i might take her into yet another room, dim the lighting fixtures fixtures; shop the noise down and nurse her until finally she got here out of her fussy time. i've got self belief it have been given extra desirable around 3 - 3 a million/2 months.
