3 in 1?? A play pen, bassinette and a changer - all in one?
WOW! I've never even heard of that before! You Americans are wayyyyy infront of us Aussies!
Babies are usually more than safe sleeping in a basinette until they are around 6 months old. My little girl grew out of her bassinette when she was 2 months, but then again - she was an overly large baby.
As long as your baby's head isnt touching the top end of the bassinette, youre safe!
As per personal choice - I wont bother buying a bassinette for our next baby. As far as I am concerned, they are expensive, and dont last very long at all! My next one is going straight into a cot.

I had both the pack-n-play with the bassinet and a crib. We didn't start using the crib till he was about 2 1/2 months old. We just used the bassinet, which was great because you can have it right there next to your bed. But soon, he didn't care for it, I guess it was just too hard. He now prefers his crib much better. But there was a time in there he would only sleep in his swing, I think because his little tummy was bothering him. But now he has taken to the crib and loves it! I would just get the pack-n-play now especially if you don't have the money for a crib. Then when you save up your money go get yourself a crib when he starts to get ancie in the bassinet. I suggest the 4 in 1 cribs so you have a toddler bed, a daybed and a full size bed with it.

I wanted to do the same thing, i was looking at one of those elaborate pack n plays with bassinet, changing table that later converts to just a play yard when the baby is older.
My only problem is that it really was not going to last that long so now i settled on the fact that i NEED a crib, one that can later turn into a small bed. Bassinets usually last until the 35 pound mark, and the one that comes inside of the play-yards with the changing section usually have been known to sag in the middle as the baby gets bigger.....
I really wanted one because we live in a small NYC apartment.... but i just decided crib was more economical in the end.

I wouldn't do it. You would be better off just getting a crib. The bassinet is only good until they are about ten pounds. You can find some preety good priced cribs and I had the playpen with the changing table and never used the changing table part. It would be safer for the baby to have a crib

I have that and a regular crib too. Don't just buy the crib/bassinet set because it only holds up to like 15lbs or something so your child would grow out of the bassinet part fast.

the play-pen cribs are fine for short periods but not full-time use. They aren't designed to hold the weight of an older baby and aren't very good on their backs/spine for long term use.
It will be okay for the first couple of months but I would invest in a proper wooden crib/cot (even buying second hand from ebay or second hand store and re-painting or what not) as it would be more beneficial for your baby.
You need to think long term when buying a bed for baby. Like for their first 2+ years

Up until they begin to start turning on their own...about 2-4 months old. After that, you will need to use the play pen as a crib instead.

My infant's room is suited next to ours. i exploit the newborn computer screen so this is going to wake me up, notwithstanding if she is merely wimpering. i don't think of four months is merely too quickly to however the newborn in her very own room. Our infant has been in her very own crib, because of the fact the 1st nighttime homestead! She actual likes being in her crib. she would be in a place to easily lay there gazing the bumper pads and coo! Its so wonderful! the considerable difficulty is that 4 months isn't too early to have the newborn in her very own room, enormously so your husband and you gets some sleep!

Sure. But my guess, from experience, is that that little one will end up snuggled next to mommy in bed. It's how it usually ends up working out. Everyone, especially mommy, gets more sleep that way.
