They will check to see if there are any issues.

Don't panic yet. You have no idea if it is even an issue yet so don't panic. Just go to the doctor and have them figure it out. Once you know if you are dealing with anything, then you can addres what to do next.

Until then your baby sounds fine. Just keep doing what you are doing. Babies do grow are very different rates. This could just be the time she is growing her head!

(My 1 year old had to go to the orthopedic doctor to have her hip checked becuase the peditirian noticed a click and a wierd feeling. - It all turned out to be fine, but if she had the condition then it was something easily fixed with a brace for a year, instead of not able to walk correctly the rest of her life. She also had to go to the opthomologist becuse the peditirtican saw an abnormality in one eye with the red reflection. Again it turned out to be nothing, but my sister who is an opthomologist said the pediatric opthomologist in her practice just removed an eye from 3 differetn infants due to a condition. I am just glad the peditirican wanted to check out something that looked a bit abnormal to help rule out any big issues.)

In my opinion it is better to be safe (and drive all over town) than sorry.

I hope all the test come back to say everything is normal.

They will probably look for hydrocephalus, or water on the brain. It sounds scary, but when detected early, the baby can be completely fine. They will probably give her a shunt to keep the fluid away from her brain, and it will instead drain into her stomach. I know it sounds scary and kind of gross, but it's not too bad. There are actually many kids who have this condition.
Then again, it may be nothing. Your daughter may have a big, healthy noggin =) Either way, GET HER TESTED! It's better to have her checked out and find out she's OK than it is to let something that could have been fixed get worse. Good luck, and I'll say a prayer for her!

They'll be checking to make sure that there's no buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (hydrocephaly) and no tumor that would cause a sudden increase in growth.

Best of luck to you

she could have extra fluid surrounding her brain.. if thats the case they will have to relieve it.. theres any number of things that could be going on... however my younger brother has extra fluid around his brain and they arent worried about it.. he has had a seizure but they dont want to do surgery if it was a one time thing.. they will see what is going on and evaluate the need for a procedure.

don't know, and I don't think anyone else on YA will be able to tell either. Try to calm yourself until the ultrasound. There is nothing you can do at this point, except be the best mother you can be to your little darling.

Any reason to label her with a medical condition.

Babies grow at crazy rates at different times. They'll look for swelling, fluid or other abnormalities, and come back with nothing.

You have insurance right? Thats probably why theyre doing the tests. She fits into a small classification of children who *may* have some issue, so they test for it and charge your insurance for the money.

Its standard medical procedure and how doctors offices stay in business.
