I am getting a lot of baby toys (Baby due Jan 23.08)....I was wondering if I should clean them first? I have a tendency to overclean....and I don't want my baby's immune system to suffer because of it... If I should clean them, how do I? Can I clean them in soapy disinfectant dishsoap water (then rinse-ofcourse)? I am waiting for a part on my dishwasher, so that is out of commision for a few weeks.... Do I clean the toy rings, etc...or not? Thanks!

I have a 2 month old baby... a week away from being 3 months old. He weighs 17 pounds and is overall very healthy. He has been running a fever for the last two to three days. I took him to the ER yesterday and at that time only had a fever of 100 and also has a bad cough and congestion. They sent me home and told me to administer tylenol every 4 hours. Now, he has a rectal temperature of 103.9 (so adjusted that is 102.9) Should I take him back in to get checked out or should I just keep an eye on it? I just simply don't want to drag my baby out to the hospital at 2 A.M. just to be sent home with nothing again! One quick thing, he doesn't have an ear infection... they looked at this yesterday. I need answers quick! I need to make a decision of what to do.

Is it okay to puts visk on our 1 year old almost every night before putting her to sleep because she coughed few times. Or give baby tyonal for preventing fever which she doesn't have yet. Can someone tell us if this is good or not.

I've read on here about people saying the NICU where their baby was, only allowed mothers to be there certain times of the day. When my son was in the NICU, my husband and I were allowed there 24 hours a day. From 8 am until 10 pm, the babies were allowed 2 visitors at a time, with approval from mommy of course.

My son was in 2 different NICU's. The first, he was with other babies born with birth defects, or babies going through withdrawals from drugs. After that, he was put in the NICU with the preemies.

Can anyone who had babies in the NICU tell me what the visitor situation was in the hospital with your baby?

How could mothers possibly use this Ferber method? I mean, I hate when my son cries and some women are saying that they have listened to their child crying for an hour!!!!!!!!! and not comfort to the baby. WOW! I could never do that. Doesn't baby cry when they need something? How can these women even THINK of doing this?

I was really bored while my son napped on my lap, and I came across many baby products that I found appalling. Has anyone ever heard or, or even used any of these things?

This looks like something I would use for a hanging plant:

This vacuum doubles as a riding toy for toddlers!
http://redhousedesign.blogspot.com/2006/10/buster-vacuum-cleaner-for-kids.html

This baby carrier has hooks so you can hang your baby over the stall door in the bathroom.

So much for hands-on parenting:

This contraption will tell you why your baby is crying.

It makes me so sad that there is a demand for such products. The fact that they are still available means someone out there must own and use these things. What are your thoughts on these "must have" baby items?

something i dont understand about breastfeeding is:
Is that my pediatrician says that its a feed on demand
process, she said if you feed every 3 hrs or in some cases you
have to pump she said your milk will regulate for your baby.. BUT WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND is i have asked several of my friends if they breastfeed and they all said their milk dried up past a couple of weeks how is that possible if your milk regulates when u feed??

Hello, I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I haven't really gotten anything for the baby. All my friends and family are back in California so I won't be having a baby shower or anything and everytime I go to the store to buy stuff I feel overwhelmed. Like how many pajamas, burp clothes, blankets, sheets, socks, mittens, onesies, and other stuff will you need? Do you feel that a baby swing was a good purchase? Or was there anything you feel you couldn't have lived without? Thank you for your help in advance. :)

My husband and I would like to celebrate the birth of our daughter with a few glasses of wine in the future. My question is how much milk do I need to pump for her? How long does alcohol stay in breast milk? What are your personal experiences? Thanks :)

Oh and please don't be rude or I'll report you for insulting me. Thank you.

My baby boy is 10 weeks old. He has been fussy since he was born. A bit of colic which has almost gone away, yet he still has his super grouchy fussy days. It's never predictable.

He is also a baby who, if you lay him down to nap, he may stay asleep for five to ten minutes. He, since birth, has preferred to sleep in someone's arms. I have gotten him to take a few naps out of arms, but that's it. Because of this I wear him in his Moby Wrap quite often. It's how he gets his longest periods of rest.

At night, he only wakes to nurse every 3 or 4 hours. And, he does not fully wake up at night at all. He's been great about nighttime.

Now, because my Mom, Dad, the baby's Dad, other people, etc. cannot calm my son, she thinks it's because he's spoiled. She says I carry him around too much, and that I should get him on a "schedule". She says he is a spoiled, grouchy baby. She tells me I need to let him cry. And, she constantly questions me about when he'll be different...

And if yeah me and my bro, sisters and dad haven't thrown one before so what do we have to due. Should be book a venue or have it at home, what games and food should we do and most importantly should it be a surprize?
