My daughter was 2 weeks - but it was summer and it was just outside to the park = besides I had a 2 1/2 year old that needed OUT!
However with my first, born in Jan., he was 8 weeks old before I really went anywhere with him.

My son who is now 4 was only about 4 days old and we went shopping. We had to because while I was pregnant the doctors told me I was having a girl so I had to return everything!! It was a hassle. I wasn't really nervous about him being out, but if I had 2 newborns that would probably be different because newborns can be pretty unpredictable so that would be hard. My daughter who is now 2 was only a few days old also, with number 2 it was alot easier.

My daughter was out shopping with me at 4 days old and has been out and about since that time at least once a week.

I think I took my little Heidi out for the first time when she was about 2 weeks old.
We wrapped her up nice and cozy, and took her for a nice, long walk!
Believe me, 2 weeks at home with a non-stop crying baby (on bi-hourly feeds) is too much for any mom to handle!

Lol, my daughter took her first road trip at 2 weeks. She's been on wheels since she was born! Does great on trips and shuffling in and out of the car too.
Then again, I felt comfortable taking her places and she's bottle fed...so that's a lot easier. She's also pretty happy and quiet, which makes lunch dates and whatnot easier.

As soon as we left the hospital we went to walmart. He needed clothes. I didn't think he was going to be that small and we needed some premmie clothes. eventhough he was fullterm. After that we stayed home for like 2 days. It was pretty weather in FL. So we just took him out to show a couple friends and then go see grandma.

With my son {a normal delivery} he was 4 days old. The weather was beautiful {Mid April} and I was stir-crazy. I put him in a chest carrier and walked to a nearby park. I needed the fresh air. He wasn't exposed to any germs from being around a bunch of people, and when Mom is relaxed...baby is relaxed :>}
P.S. No where is it written that you need to do this by yourself. Remember all those friends and family members that told you "if you need anything, just ask?" SO...ASK! Ask them to push the grocery cart for you so you can buy groceries. Ask them to help move kids in and out of car seats and strollers and out to the park. What ever stresses you out and you wish you had help, ask already!

I had to right away, I got 2 other kids and my husband is in Iraq, we need food and what not, so I would cover him with a blanket or wear him in a sling and I would ask people not to get close because he was new. I really had no choice, I would've waited a little longer like a month had I had a husband to help me.

Both my babies were about a week old when we took them out for the first time. That was when I felt up to it.
