Newborn & Baby - February 2007

My 4-Month old son is a GREAT sleeper - he goes to bed at the same time as mom & dad, and usually sleeps until about 10am, waking 2-3 times through the night to eat. The trouble is he will ONLY sleep in his bouncy seat, and wakes up screaming if we try to put him in his crib. We have even waited until he is dead asleep to try. I have also stayed up all night in the past, putting him in every time he fell asleep - he never went to bed!
This would not be a problem, however he is very big for his age, and is outgrowing his bouncy seat. He has also started rolling in both directions during the day, and sitting up on his own. I am worried he will roll right out some night and I won't hear him!

Has anyone else experianced this? Any suggestions? I am opposed to Cry-it-out (I'm a wimp...just too heart-breaking to listen to).

My daughter is filling up the bassinet! She has about 2 1/2 inches of space from head to toe in the bassinet now, so is it time to let her sleep in the crib? I get so scared with SIDS so I know all the precautions on putting her there, but is she still too small?

I'm stressed every day. If i'm not upset and crying, i'm upset and yelling. Everyone tells me I need to calm down because it's "not good for the baby" what exactly happens to the baby when i'm always stressed?? How do I not let things bother me? I don't want to hurt my baby but it's so hard to stay relaxed with everything in my life right now.

The meaning of names

My daughter's fontanelle was sunken this morning and now I'm freaking out! Ever since she started solid foods, I've been nervous. She was formerly exclusively BF until six months, and then I introduced solids. Now she takes in two solid meals a day and the milk intake went down to maybe 4 liquid servings a day. Problem is when she was drinking BM, that's how she got her fluids - i never had to worry about it because my body took care of everything. Now with teh sunken head she obviously needs fluids. What should I do? She doesn't really know how to use a cup, or rather she can drink out of a cup if I hold it for her. She doesn't know how to use a tippy either. I also fear that the water will fill her up and she won't take in any more BM. Right now at this age she still needs it and since she's such a finicky eater (eating mostly fruits, yogurt, and one or two veggies) I don't trust her solid intake to replace the milk. (I'm a first time mom, can't you tell). Thanks.

from your experience did you use a bassinet for your newborn or use a crib right away. I have seen articles advocating one or the other. if you used a bassinet, for how long and was it easier?

Has this happened to anyone???

At 9 months, my baby started cruising and taking his first few steps. By 10 months, he was taking about 8-10 steps. He was very eager & excited about walking.

Now he is 10 1/2 months & it seems as if he's lost interest in walking. He is now crawling again & acts as if he's afraid to walk. My mother asked me if he had a serious fall-- no he didn't.

I know he'll eventually get it, so I'm not really concerned. Just wondering, has anyone else experienced this??

She was a colic baby for about 12 weeks and then she began to settle and sleep very well through the night. Now at almost 9 mths of age...she awakes several times. I have taken her to the doctore. No ear infection, I give her Midol/Tylenol before bed. I have no idea what to do.

My son is almost 4 months. Hes got a running nose a little. He was up from 10-3am last night just crying. Nothing I could do would calm him down. He seemed okay this AM as he was smiling and having fun. I am not home with him now as I am at work. I was just wondering if it could be an ear ach, of if he just had a bad night? Any thoughts would help!

My almost 9-month-old baby weighs around 17 lbs. and is starting to look uncomfortable in her Graco Snug Ride infant seat. I know she must stay in a rear-facing seat until she is 20 lbs. and 1 year old.

So should I buy a new convertable car seat now, or should I wait until she is a year old and 20 lbs. and just buy a front-facing car seat?

Also...which car seat is the safest? Or, where can I find such information?

if there was no such thing as baby formula? Yes, I am a nursing mom (nursing nazi if you like) and I have never used formula, so I am biased on this question. I am just curious to know what would happen if formula was not an option. I know I will get a lot of negative answers for asking this question, but I would really like to hear feed-back.

Mother’s And Father’s I was wondering your advise on something. Me myself im 8 weeks pregnant. Me and my boyfriend live in a one bedroom apartment, but were thinking about moving into a two bedroom before our little sunshine gets here. What I was wanting to know is how many mother’s and father’s had the baby sleep in there room for the 1st year and how many had a nursery for the baby. Just trying to get some advise. Its kinda hard to make up our minds.

I am due in a few weeks & this morning my 5 yr old son was asking about feeding the baby. I am going to breastfeed her. How do I explain this to my son? I don't want to tramatize him, but I think he needs to understand what is going on.
