We're expecting our first baby boy and we're very fond of name "Gene" for him. We (parents) are from Asian country but currently living in the States. While we want our baby to have an English origin name (as he'll live his life as an American), we want the name to retain light flavor of Asian touch. While Gene is an American name, its pronounciation is well suited for our purpose.

Our 3 questions are:
1. Does it sound girlish or sissy?
2. What image / impression do you first get when you hear this name? Is it something sincere or something bad?
3. Would you have any suggestions based on our concern described above?

Thanks for your help!

dehydration projectile vomiting diarrhea congestion fussiness gas clingy irritable fatigue but sleeps in short spurts-- took her to the dr. they said pedialyte 1/2oz every 1/2 hour unless she is sleeping and no food unless she is peeing and isn't vomiting and diarrhea lessens. Only food to give her are cracker, mashed potatoes, rice cereal with pedialyte mixed in it. She didn't even know what was the matter with her, there are plenty of babies/toddlers sick around this area with the same symptoms, does anyone have any ideas? Please helpful/insightful suggestions/comments only. Thank you all so much!

i just dont understand why he sleeps so much. he is 1 month old and it seemed as of he was startin to wake up more, but he has slept all day. he slept for 7 hours and then woke up for about an hour and then went back to sleep for about 3 hours, ate, and went back tosleep about an hour later. Then he woke up about an hour later, ate, and went back to sleep for a short nap and ate again and then went to sleep about 2 hours ago and is still sleeping. I just think that this is a lot of sleep. PLEASE read this and tell me what you all think and if this is normal. And what could be wrong with him if this is too much sleep. Or what i should be concerned with. I am a new mom and maybe am just freakin out. dont be afraid to tell me!!!

Today my two month old was in his car seat and the car seat was set up on the seat of a shopping cart. Somehow the seat hit something and the whole thing fell. It was in a clothes store and the clothes broke his fall, when I tried to catch him, I may have made it worse. I don't think HE hit the floor because the handle was up on the seat, and he was strapped in, and he had the neck brace thing in his seat. He cried for a minute, and had a small bump and some redness over his eye, but it has gone away. I was terrified and I still am. Is there anything I should be looking for? He is eating and sleeping fine. I'm just concerned.

getting rid of all the nasty stuff in his lungs. When we came home he still did it. Alot of people said to add rice cereal in the formula to thicken it so it stays down and then I saw that Enfamil came out with a new formula that has rice cereal in it for babies you spit up alot. I then tried adding rice cereal in his bottles and used the fast nipple so it can get through and he hasnt spit up since then. Is this right? Any suggestions?

Hi everyone! - I don't know if this yahoo place is a reliable source for advice, but I would like the opinions and hear your experiences, if any. I've already talked with Family Law lawyers - so I have professional - professional legal advice. Now, I just want to know from everyday ppl what you think. -- I have a beautiful baby girl of 9 months. Her father and I aren't together. He doesn't want anything to do with us. He hasn't seen her at all and now his entire family is involved in trying to get him out of paying for child support. I have filed for full custody/support/and even offering him visitation, even though he wants 0% visitation. I feel it's the right thing for me to keep the door open for my baby to know who her bio father is and when she is older she can make the decision if shes wants to be involved with him or not. I don't want to deny that option for her. With that, it's up to him to make a positive or negative impact in her life. Right now, his actions..cont.

My son is 3 months old and loves his swing, bouncy-seat and babygym. Often he'll spend 20 minutes happily entertained by them. I've been told that he will soon lose his interest in these things which not only keep him happy, but give mom a few minutes of peace :-). Any suggestions on toys to entertain him in the next stage? How much longer do you think I'll have before he outgrows what he has now? We live in an apartment and space is a concern.

My wife and I are in our mid 20's and are planning our first baby.

We have $2500 left over every month for a baby after everything is paid for. (Our house mortgage and cars will be paid off BEFORE the baby is born.)

How much will a baby actually cost us monthy?

My wife is working part time and we will pay her mother $300 a month to watch the baby and clean.

Childcare: $300
Insurance: $0 (No change to my premiums)
Monthy doctor visit: $10 co-pay
Formula: $0 (wife wishes to breastfeed)
Diapers: $?????
Toys: $????

What will we need to pay for?

I am worried about money because I hear that children are SO expensive.

Thanks

My daughter is 4 days shy of being 6 weeks old. I have been breastfeeding since she was born, last week I had purchased a new breast pump so I was pumping for a straight week without putting her on my boob to eat. Last Tuesday I went for my 4 week checkup, and she put me on birth control, I have tried everything from the shot, to the patch, to a pill and I get terrible migraines, so she put me on Micronor it has no estrogen in it so it should not give me migraines. Anyways to the point, Most women have told me that breastfeeding will allow me not to have periods, but some women do get them. Well last Tuesday I started taking the pill and the day after I started my period and it is very heavy, Is it because the b/c? or because I was pumping so much? Anyone else have this problem? If so did it last long? or should I call the Dr. because the pill is off the cycle or what?

Sorry if I'm not specific enough.
